MMA Finally Gets Assembly OK

Mixed Martial Arts made it through the Assembly 113-25 this week. I couldn't locate the roll call, so I don't know how the locals voted, but beating the stuffing out of people on stage is now to be acceptable fare in NY because NY will be getting three percent of the take.

It is odd that football players have to wear helmets and we coddle the players because they are getting TBI's that have yet to be identified.

But punching and kicking someone in the head and/or having them fall to the floor of the ring, unconscious from a hit, is just fine.

It's amazing. The Great Nanny State of New York, where the well-being of all is Albany's top concern is allowing this. The NFL is going through the concussion issue right now. Just wondering how long it will take before some of these MMA participants will be walking around not knowing what day it is and crapping in their pants, then the lawyers will be getting involved suing someone over this. Anything for a buck. Bunch of hypocrites.

Remember the Chicken Man? That poor guy couldn't even get the freedom to do the birds. Now this. Very strange society we live in.

Where's the similar disdain for boxing?

Here is the NY Assembly Page to Track the MMA Vote

As I said, it is very difficult to locate and search the entire NYS Assembly or Senate pages for vote info ...it should be easy, open, and accessible to all citizens... by design it is difficult.

The talk about "reform" - ha ... just a word ... reform means to me to make the system easy to find, read, and research w/o having to know bill numbers and such ... plus, waiting for a member to tell us how they voted - well .. that equals their political ploy and stunt as they seem to say: "See how good I am helping you with my votes? Vote for me next time, too, and send a few bucks."

Let us find out ourselves ... make the process more open and fair and easy. Period.

WELL said 7:32. But for our beloved leaders of NY it's a fundraising opp. and that's all that counts.
