Horbacz: City Will Operate Snack Bar

City Councilman Cody Horbacz told the HOTLINE audience today, the City will indeed operate the Arena snack bar and that contrary to print reports, users of the renovated facility will not have to line up their own concession.
Council last Monday told staff there will be no outside operator and that the city will run it.
Mr. Horbacz stopped by the WATN studios for his first interview since taking office. In a wide ranging discussion he said he plans to vote for Senator Bernie Sanders in the April 19 primary.
We also talked about fire talks which are going nowhere, and the Thompson Park Pool which he says will be discussed at budget time...Translated...It won't happen.

Fire talks are going nowhere. I thought the consulting lawyer was going to save us. I hope he enjoys northern New York, I am sure he likes our money. Was this approved by the past council. Weigh in on this Jeff please.

Glad to see someone cares about us. Looks like Joe is one and done if Cody runs.

Why is the bug czar acting like he doesn't know what's going on up there with concessions? He was prolly daydreaming about bed bugs while the votes were being tallied. Good for Cody telling it like it is. Time to get it done. Don't agree with his pick for prez though. At least he's not a sheep for Shillary.

no offense to cody, but he just doesn't seem to be up to the job in my opinion. He never gives an answer to a question when asked, he laughs it off and then tries to crack a lame joke. I have voter remorse.

I caught the show today and thought Cody sounded very positive, energetic and hopeful on the COW future.

Have to say, Jeff, you in turn sounded like a curmudgeon. Negative and more focused on what the media will write about. Who cares what the editorials will say? I surely don't want a council person that lets the weight of their decisions rest on whether the Times will write kindly of them.

Would have liked to have him answer a few more calls and hear his responses from the callers.

445 I voted against hiring him and offered to Council and staff the names of other labor lawyers recommended by NYCOM....There was no interest as this deal was done
Frankly I was not impressed with him at the initial meeting but other sentiments prevailed and were validated with an election
Hopefully some good will come of it all.

He might have, if he could have gotten a word in edgewise 5:20.

Thanks Jeff, seems like a loss of money.

I liken this snack bar issue to Obama Care. As stupid and poorly thought out as it is, it is here and let's make some tweeks and see what can be made of it. Continuing to make errors will not help the situation. The city, although not agreed by Graham and Horbacz on the radio, should take the money for rent because there obviously is NO MONEY IN CONCESSIONS. As labor costs go up, it will only get worse. We must reorganize, re-staff, re-whatever over at parks and recs to be able to get this facility used to the max. We should assist people like Mr. Rich and think about giving them a break to continue to bring events to this boondoggle. But, to my chagrin, I don't see this happening. It's truly a shame.

6:51 I've heard him give the same dog and pony show with Curry. He talks around the question and doesn't offer anything that remotely resembles a personal opinion. just more of the same lackluster leadership...

Staffing is already in place @ P&R. Just do your job, you were it running before.

1:40, Curry also doesn't take a breath when he interviews. It would be great to hear what the guest has to say once in a while.

Jeff is usually better about that, but he sounded exceptionally sarcastic and rude, cut him off several times mid sentence. Same Jeff that complained about how offended he was when Cindy Habib interviewed him. At least Horbacz was gracious about it, or so it sounded. Why waste time with stupid questions on the Mrs. Trump / Mrs. Cruz argument when you have a city councilman on air?

I don't know Cody, never saw him or heard of him before council election. But from what I see he's doing a good job. I've watched a couple of online council meetings, he's asking the right questions and challenging things he doesn't agree with. He also asked to be on the Hotline that day, wasn't invited, according to the show.

Graham was too aggressive. I'll wait for the real news media before I believe if what was said is true. Nobody else is saying the city is running the food stand.

12:11, you are right that the snack bar is like Obamacare. It needs to be repealed because the government is too big, biased, corrupt and crooked to run anything without quadrupling the price. And it is not what the voters want. And it will lose money big time. and it is only supported by socialist/Communists/centralized planner supporters. Bernie voters of free stuff love this stuff. Smart people hate it.

8:38, sounds like a setup post. Aggressive was not what it sounded like. Nattering nabob of negatism.

8:46AM, last i checked Cody runs his own business, so if he thinks the city is better off running concessions I'll take his word for it no matter who his prez pick is. I happen to be a customer of his and they do a fantastic job at a reasonable price. I'd say he's "smart people." How many businesses do you own? Maybe you should run for office and make all the hard calls - dope.

Very brave of Cody to go on the air in what could have been unpredictable territory. He speaks his mind and doesn't play games, political or otherwise. Can't wait till the next election to get more of his type and less of the yes-men and yes woman that we have seen. Mac is a lame duck that hasn't accomplished anything during her tenure. Her favorite statement is "i don't understand". WE KNOW!!! Jennings is a self promoter who wants to be Mayor; let's hope that never happens unless we want more government and higher taxes. We have a good start with Cody now lets finish the job with the next election.

Graham, let the guy talk! Every time Horbacz started to say something you cut him off! Was he not saying what you wanted him to say? As a listener it was frustrating.

Maybe the councilman should do the Hotline himself. He'd be better than Macaluso...

We pay city employees to do city business not sell hot dogs.

This is way, way out of hand. Hey, maybe city "leaders" (and I use that term lightly) will take shifts to work the serving line? You think.
