Governor Cuomo's ban on non essential state travel to North Carolina will have little actual effect as I doubt there is much such travel.
However Mr. Cuomo's action is a severe overreach and a reckless use of power.
The Governor issued the order as a protest of an NC law dealing with bathroom usage by transgender people.
Regardless of the issue, it is provocative grandstanding on the part of our Governor which ironically comes days before many New Yorkers ready to meet the Tar Heels on the court in a Final Four game. Should the Governor have ordered the team not to go to Houston in protest ? (of course even a Governor doesn't have that power)
The matter in question is a NC issue and of no interest to Albany and this perceived need to pander to a Democratic constituency (LGBT) is inappropriate and offensive to the millions who live in NC, many of whom are former New Yorkers
