Western NY media is already looking at the upcoming Presidential primary on April 19. Buffalo may see all the candidates, particularly Donald Trump who is a favorite of the Erie County GOP and their mentor, Carl Paladino.
Western NY could well be Trump Country. In 1992, Ross Perot ran well there and I 2010 Mr. Paladino carried several counties there while being swamped in the rest of the state by Andrew Cuomo.
Syracuse may be another upstate venue for those seeking the state's 95 delegates which will be apportioned by CD. Long Island is another site.
New York has not been important in recent Presidential races due to the stampede to decide by South Carolina. The unique aspects to this year's race will create competition right through California in early June.
Other Northeast states like NJ and PA will also be important this year. Governor John Kasich is counting on the NE to garner enough delegates to give him leverage at a contested convention. Senator Ted Cruz may find things a little tougher in the region ,but in still in the hunt for delegates.
