Dems to Sell Out Upstate Workers to Get $15 Wage Deal

Upstate residents seeking a living wage will have to wait till 2023 for the $15 an hour given to downstate folks in two years, under the latest compromise being advanced in Albany.
The seven year phase in may come about to get a deal done by Friday, the deadline for budget approval.
If passed this will allow the GOP to claim a great victory, when in fact they are also spending other people's money.
Why not have one rate for all and maybe people will move upstate for reasons other than drug dealing ?

Raising the minimum wage is Democrats way of saying they have no clue as to how to grow the economy. Instead of expanding the pie, as happens in a growing economy, the Dems are throwing in the towel and saying the pie is fixed size, so we need to redistribute the pieces. Sand, isn't it, to see one party to give up on America.

If the GOP agrees to any increase at all, they are the ones selling out upstate and the rest of the state.

He didn't have to raise it upstate, because he bought enough votes with it downstate. Masterful. Sleezebag politicians used business people's money to remain in power. They can now coast for 2 - 4 election cycles. Inflation ? Duh, what's that ?

If it makes sense to have a higher wage for NYC, then why will it not be higher when all is said and done? Why not keep it higher at the end of the progression? They are lying to themselves in the beginning or the in the end. Either it makes sense to have two wages or it doesn't. They are basically agreeing that they want to have a substandard minimum wage in NYC at the end of 7 years. Or they are admitting the wage doesn't make sense for upstate and they don't care.
