WDT: Lambs Led to Slaughter ?

Two Council members told the Times they were surprised how expensive the Syracuse lobbying firm was...surprised it was not hired through competitive bidding, and that they had never heard of the firm.
Another Council member recused himself because of the political connections of the firm.
It was a $60,000 political bone.  There was a letter to the editor last fall that predicted this.

I assume the person who recused himself is the one connected to Paddie Ritchie's office. So how did it pass if two more councilpersons had concerns?
If Butler wanted a grant, he could have voted yes for the one he turned down for the fire department.
I thought this is what Tug Hill was supposed to help all the rubes with? Or do they just need someone to fill out the application so staff doesn't have to be bothered?

No surprise as to the hiring of this firm to write grants. Ms. Addison seems a tad too busy doing .....hmm, what ever she does.
Also, I had to laugh out loud (lol) when that sweet school girl nailed the dog park saga. Too bad this council has no follow thru. Hope it doesn't translate to all they start.

Are they kidding us? This was every thing they ran against!

It's only 60,000. Chump change. Spend and tax. The taxpayers still have some left to give.

The firm is part of the Wladis Law Firm. Ask St, Lawrence County what they think of the outfit!

Guess the Council doesn't look much beyond the county line.

Taxpayers take notice. You are being had.

Follow the money. Someone at city hall is getting something back for this. A resignation should be forthcoming.

Who is on record for voting for this?

Hey SG, there goes the 60,000 for your dog park!

Local officials are told this firm has "influence and Access". Local officials forget they are the representatives and should have the influence and access. The lobbyist helps state politicians raise money and that gets their phone calls answered. Walczyk knows how it works and that's why he recused himself.

Maybe Joe will hire Jim Heary to replace Slye.

"Walczyk knows how it works and that's why he recused himself."

Huh? If he 'knows how it works' he should have voted no. Patsy.

No, No - use Joe Russell!!!

The getting something guy is Ritchies staffer who was helped by outside money to get elected then sit on his thumbs while taxdpayers get fleeced. By the way SLC bill was for about Three million but I could be wrong somewhat.
Ritchie and her staffers are by far just as corrupt as the rest of the Republican Senators who used to run the Senate.

Are they going to write grants so the council can turn them down after they get awarded? More well spent money by this bunch of clowns. Agree with above poster, follow the money trail. Too bad we don't have any investigative journalists in this town

Thank god. Time for a new lawyer. We have hired many of "Czars" in the past, let's continue the spending practice. Tongue in cheek.

Bite your tongue 1145, Although His health insurance came into play years ago and the "Agency" paid for his insurance...

Walczyk recused himself because when the shit hits the fan he wants to be spotless. This is Butlers babe conciev ed by Ritchie and preached by Walczyk now he profits down the road no doubt... Remember folks this is what outside campaign money buys you

Not enough opposition from taxpayers, that's why they keep on spending like there is no tomorrow .

6:50 You mean the outside Firemens' campaign support don't you?

Wow! How the wheel begins to spin. One of Jeff's biggest points when he ran was it was going to take a vet to get the new puppies eating solid food and walking on their own. Everyone poo-pooed.
