Senator Griffo Wants To Outlaw Food Stamps in Strip Clubs and Liquor Stores. | syracuse.com

How about the conversion to cash to buy Lottery tickets and cigarettes, or the purchase of overpriced and unhealthy food at convenience stores ?

There is no one using their EBT card at either of the strip clubs in downtown Utica, nor are liquor stores taking them. This is a bill for publicity

No. Must keep them affordable.

Yup. And it would be costly to limit what machines take the cards

Yet the Politicians can use THEIR state-issued credit cards for such "entertainment."

I guess rank does have it's privileges!

A bogus issue ... if any business of any kind is doing that stuff, then prosecute them and the offenders and NOT paint everyone with the same wide brush just to blame the system. Yes, we will always have crooks in a system like this. But I'd argue they are small in number compared to overall. Leaders must stay focused on the wrong doers and not the system as a whole and stop the pandering for votes like this.

You can trade food stamps for anything on the street. It's a form of MONEY. We are not going to change anyone's behavior by attempting to limit their use. Not that I think Griffo is wrong. I just think it's a fruitless campaign.

Lastly, I didn't know you could eat in a strip club. In most places, you can't even touch the girl. I need to get out more.

And Dan, do not ever preach to us about pols that pander for votes. As a party liner, you need to stifle yourself on that one.
