Sandoval withdraws from supreme court consideration – The Guardian

Putting party first, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval withdrew his name from consideration for nomination to the Supreme Court, as doing so would deeply embarrass the Republican Party. The former federal judge was reported to be under consideration as a consensus candidate President Obama could present to the Senate.

Senate Republicans have already said they will not consider any nominee but Governor Sandoval would have put them on a spot. He was unanimously approved as a federal judge and is a moderate Republican. Accepting the nomination would have made Governor Sandoval an outcast in the GOP and if he was not approved would have no future in politics.

Some have mentioned him as a VP choice this year.

A case of GOPers killing and eating their own - in advance in this case, or so it seems.

Kinda sad -- the nastiness of politics led by who? Oh, yeah the GOP who blasts Mr. Obama as a "lame duck" when in reality no president is an a lame duck until after the election in November ... a historical fact.

Mitch McConnell and the entire GOP-led Senate should be ashamed and yes, the DEM would garnish the same shame exactly.

That is why I hate politics, if the man is qualified, moderate and a good man he should be the one to take the position, and this gamesmanship just ticks me off..

Of course he did. Mothball mouth McConnell told him not to accept it.
Once again, the party of "no"

Boo hoo libtards.
The Senate gets the final say and they said "KNOW"!!!
You no likey the Constitution? Yeah...we knew that.

Nominate Cruz and it would work. That is the Constitutional expert who actually won cases in front of the Court !

No, it's not kinda sad, Publius. The real issue here is your hero and the atmosphere he himself has created. Ruling with executive orders, bypassing Congress, and setting himself up as a dictator, it's not surprising the Republicans have finally said enough. Because of your hero's actions, we will have a delay, then a fight. Enjoy the climate that you and your fellow party line folks have created.

A politician that does the right thing. A rare event.

10:06 and of course, you imply that GOPers have been innocent bystanders (victims even) and not even close to being a guilty partner in our system; our process, right? I see, I see.

My advice to you: sober up and go back to bed and sleep it off. Your post puts you right at the bottom of the Anonymous cesspool. Congrats.
