Joe Scarborough: Trump's KKK ignorance 'disqualifying' - POLITICO

When you listen to "the shows" for advice, a pronouncement on a Monday morning from Joe Scarborough will surely reverberate through Team Trump today.
Mr. Trump was asked about David Duke during the morning talk show circuit. He had disavowed interest in Duke's "support" on Friday, but was pressed on it again by Jake Tapper on Sunday.
His overly cautious, equivocating answer set off a debate about whether he is interested in pandering to KKK ideology which Mr. Duke is linked to from his Louisiana political races years back.
Scarborough says the answer is disqualifying and he needs to clean up the language.
I think he was being overly cautious with the gotcha media,  but he did say on Sunday he "doesn't know David Duke."   That's hard to believe for anyone our age.
He should clean it up and should understand that Duke is a blast from the past looking to remain relevant. I understand how frustrating it is when the press feigns outrage and demands you say this or that. However when it comes to David Duke and the Klan, its a pretty easy response.
This morning Mr. Trump blamed it on an earpiece during the Tapper interview and said he had already disavowed Duke on Twitter.

They want everyone to hate the Klan but the NRA whichis merely an offshoot of the Klan sharing many of the same values is alright..

You won't hear similar quesiton about the nation of Islam and a democrat. Even thought there are 10 times as many rasics in the Nation of Islam.
When he says he doesn't know David Duke, who are you to say otherwise? Knowing that the media paints all GOP memebers as racist, the correct response was for the Donald to say he doesn't know Duke. Unless you Google it and read a bunch about it, there is know way of knowing if David Duke is, was, or never was, a racist.

Another answer for Trump would have been to say he would take any vote he can get just as Obama took votes from many groups listed as racist and hate groups by the Southern Poverty law center

Albany talk radio 1300AM is now reporting that NYGOP leadership has now gotten behind Trump. Polls are now showing that he will take NY easily in general election and that he has coat tails that will carry more GOP into State Legislature. Didn't catch if this came from Fred Dicker. He has a late morning program. You listen on the internet.

Update, Fred Dicker NYP article. Can be found on Drudge.

Jeff, calm yourself. Trump's reply that he doesn't know David Duke is reasonable and understandable. I don't know Duke either. I don't think you do either. We all know OF Duke, the KKK, and the history behind it. Although most are somewhat limited in this regard. But Trump's claim is the best way possible to state he has no connection with him. It's a sorry situation when media goes into smear mode like this. But as the election nears, we can expect more and more of this dishonesty. It's just like the claim that all Republicans are racist. People throw this mud because it works, as so many are just plain stupid.

Oh, and 7:37. Calling you a dumbass would be too complimentary.

from a ny times article dated february 14, 2000 (my emphasis):

Mr. Trump painted a fairly dark picture of the Reform Party in his statement, noting the role of Mr. Buchanan, along with the roles of David Duke, a former leader of the Ku Klux Klan, and Lenora Fulani, the former standard-bearer of the New Alliance Party and an advocate of Marxist-Leninist politics.

"The Reform Party now includes a Klansman, Mr. Duke, a neo-Nazi, Mr. Buchanan, and a communist, Ms. Fulani," he said in his statement. "This is not company I wish to keep."

so yes, of course trump knows who david duke is. and it's not like he's forgotten him, since hey, we're talking about the guy with the world's greatest memory. the real question is, why do the trump supporters out there keep falling for his obvious bs?

11:33AM, I was just about to post a comment linked to the same source but you beat me to it.

As to your question, “why do Trump supporters out there keep falling for his obvious bs?” the only thing I can think of is they choose to remain intentionally oblivious to facts as the information is ready available.

nd keep in mind; it’s not just David Duke but at least another half dozen well established white supremacists groups that are actively supporting him.

It always amazes me the extent of the mental gymnastic required by Trump University graduates to foolishly attempt to “explain" what Trump meant when he says completely idiotic things. They always cover for his glaring faults and failures as somehow not being what he actually said or meant.

We all hear the words Trump says, but the misguided Trump lemmings have to explain those words as being something different then the obvious meaning. That seems problematic when the actual words he uses somehow don't fit the common definition.

Trump blames his comments on CNN with Jake Tapper on a “very bad hairpiece."

"I was sitting in a house in Florida, with a bad hairpiece," the brash billionaire told NBC's "Today" show.

Case closed.

Wait…. what’s that…. OH, an “EAR piece?”

Either way…. I believe him.

11:33 Hermie, You forget that in 1927 The Donald's father was arrested at a KKK clan rally in none other than his home town. Address on the police report was the same address as where Donald's father resided.

8:26 Dig a bit deeper and you will find the relationship of the owners know how to work all sides with dubious names of officials throughout the 25+ years the owner has been on the air. He is as much or more so a RINO as The Trumpster. Yet he has the mike for his soapbox each day. Damato, Powers, Patatki, Park Stratgies, couple of main lawyers from a couple of firms, one firm in particular caught with their hands in the cookie jar getting on the state freebies with health benefits. Friends of the owner was perhaps too close for comfort with having to appear on the stand in the investigation of Skelos and the play to pay. How gullible are you?

Trumpster is now quoting Mussolini, whose next Hitler?

What the Conservatives don't realize they are finished after Trump.

I'm not sure what the ultimate goal is, is he really forcing the Reps. hand for a contested convention? I don't think Christie is a bigot or racist but it sure seems like Sessions is. These true hardline conservatives from the south have their own litmus test so why is Sessions becoming so accommodating to Trump.

I'd like some reporter to ask Orange Top when is the last time he was in upstate NY. What charitable organizations has he or his children donated to in upstate NY?

Getting back to Sessions, the hard conservative has no compulsion to call out PP as a hateful entity, strip abortion funding as a must and no obortion after (20 weeks?), yet Orangetop thinks that it is a great organization. See, something is not passing the smell test.

Don't forget that last election cycle the lead headlines everyday were about Ferguson and Black Lives Matter more than white lives. And what did the media gatekeepers get out of broadcasting democrat nonsense everyday? They got spanked. They lost the Senate and they lost more seats in the house and they lost more governorships.

So yes, by all means, play the Trump is a racist KKK supporter card !

Robert Byrd HIMSELF was a high level KKK guy. If we are going to smear Trump by trotting out people who he doesn't know, let's go to people the Donkey's are actually in bed with. Fine people like Al Sharpton, Lewis Farrakhan, Bill Ayers, and every black racist in North America. Every special interest there is bends over for Hillary. And well they should. That bribe account she has called the Clinton Foundation is strong enough to ruin most anybody. All this reminds me of the claim that "all Republicans are racist". We all know party owned stooges either belive this or are willing to repeat the lie. It's fitting that the candidacy of the lying thighs depends on this kind of smear tactic. As they say, dance with the one who brung ya.

Shhh, they might catch on. On second thought.... maybe not.

Trump knows the secret to winning. Always look at every vote, before saying no, hard.
