Ithaca mayor wants to let heroin users shoot up under medical supervision | syracuse.com

The only thing about programs to channel folks into treatment instead of jail is that it's likely against the law and the police and prosecutors cannot be complicit in a proposal like the one the Ithaca Mayor is making.

It's outside the box thinking and it may have merit, but current law is current law.

Its not outside of the box when you consider they already do it in the socialist countries. But Buffalo had some outside of the box thinking, when they killed off some users a week or two ago with tainted junk. Problem solved for them.

I'm surprised Ithaca doesn't just put it in their water.

I'm sure that it's a better idea than letting some Ahole with a gun run around and shoot innocent people dead. Wouldn't you agree 655?

A DEM Mayor too and not doubt slightly whacky ... a really bad idea.... Time to retire Mayor Robert Michael Palmieri, Utica. Bye, bye.

The Federal Government spent Billions to buy ammo from as many states as they could to limit it's availability to shooters after Sandy Hook. Billions! Why don't they buy up all the drugs too? Do something that really will save a few lives out there. Or just stand on streets and hand out Oxy. Most of these people can no longer get Oxy, so they buy the street stuff. Yes handing out pain killers at the ER would work.
