Dig deeper and one will see those Americans mentioned are low-income working people who don't make enough to meet Fed rules to owe Fed taxes ... but they pay taxes in other ways. Bashing low-income workers is the new/old "Welfare Queen" song Redux it seems - kinda sad.

So Mitt Romney was only off by 2%. When he said this media wet their pants. Why should the takers care about who pays for their free stuff? They have no dog in the fight. No wonder they are stupid enough to vote Donkey. Then again, maybe they aren't so stupid after all. Relax, sleep late, make a baby or two, and live happily ever after.

That’s because they are liberal welfare bums and communists. Just think where we would be without out our patriotic corporate America picking up the slack.

Go Trump!

And people with govenrment pensions don't have to pay NYS tax.

So much for the BS about the top end not paying their fair share. But facts won't stop Thighs from trotting that out to the stupid.

I thought it was much higher than that. Are we sure this isn't 45 percent of people with jobs?

Dannie, it doesn't make any difference what financial state people are in. All should have a stake in the system. No one should pay nothing. And what you fail to mention is most of these folks not only pay nothing, they receive earned income credits that gives them money that they never even paid in. Even you can't defend that. But knowing you, you will probably make a stab at it.

Anon 10:02 -- here for FYI and others ... see the IRS rules, take the plunge and see the results...NOT as easy or routine as you imply:

<a href="https://www.irs.gov/Credits-&-Deductions/Individuals/Earned-Income-Tax-Credit/Use-the-EITC-Assistant#Choose-Assistant>EITC Calculator</a>

By answering questions and providing basic income information, you can use our EITC Assistant to:

Find out if you are eligible for EITC; determine if your child or children meet the tests for a qualifying child; and estimate the amount of your credit.

We have the EITC Assistant in English and Spanish. We also have versions for the current tax year and for prior years.

Make sure you use the right assistant. Income limits and credit amounts change from year to year.

Important Notes:

You need to complete the full assistant at one time. When you exit the assistant, all the information you entered is erased.

You cannot use any income received for work performed while an inmate to claim EITC. This includes amounts for work performed while incarcerated, in a work release program, or while in a halfway house.

If the IRS audited you and disallowed the EITC, you may have special filing requirements and limitations.

See Consequences of Errors on Your EITC Returns.

I watched as a family member received nearly $7,000.00 in tax returns 2 years in a row.
I also stood by helpless and unable to intervene as she spent it foolishly within weeks of receiving it each time. Ending up just as broke each time with nothing to show for it.
She had worked very little and had only a few hundred deducted from her checks in total but got this windfall.

Danny, you are a fool. Mouthy, opinionated, entitled and annoying. You know nothing other that what rattles around inside your head. You have no first hand knowledge of things such as the abuses of benefits. Having been on the upper end of the government handout scheme you only defend the status quo of what seems good in plan and principle.
I know for you it is impossible to spend time in the trenches to see the abuses and scams that go on not that far away from the manicured fairways but believe me, it does go on.

And Federal Pensions aren't taxed either Right Dannie?

2:32, go easy on our golfer. He's an example of the same party line loyalty that has gotten this country into the mess it is in. I don't see much chance of getting him to think outside his party issued box.
