Why Your Taxes are High

Saw this on the blotter. Betcha if you add up the salaries of all the people who dealt with this complaint from cops to court, it was in the millions.   All for a cigarette dispenser valued at $10.
Xxxxxx Xxxxxx, 32, of 25 Emerson Place, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 10:18 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at 119 State Place with fourth-degree criminal mischief. Mr. Horton allegedly stomped on a plastic cigarette machine valued at $10 and belong to Xxxxxxx Xxxx at about 10:04 p.m. Thursday at 119 State Place, police said. He was being held pending arraignment Friday morning in City Court

That area needed to be bulldozed, instead of Thousands of Dollars in-kind services being spent there by the COW, Nicknamed "Crip City" lets see there was a murder there, and countless crimes, time to shut it down...

When you count the time actually spent it is in the hundreds. We make choices do we want people destroying other peoples things or not

$10 is big, big $ in Watertown. Makes all the sense in the world of the City.

The fact that democrats in Albany require that we build unneeded million dollar courthouses and million dollar jails and pay million dollar pensions and give off-the-hook perks to govenrment union employees, has nothing to do with our enforcement of common sense laws on the local level. If this guy were allowed to get away with that crime, it might be his girlfriends head or one of your bartenders next.

Stuff that happens to other people doesn't seem to bother you at all, sounds like a small part of a domestic incident, but they shouldn't have to call the cops for something small like that, should they..

scum vs. scum. We should deport them to Australia like the English use to do. Let the snakes & crocs have a ball with them.

When everyone makes at least $15/hours these calls will cease.

Right, THAT'S why our taxes are so high. Has nothing to do with spending millions on things like a hockey rink.

There was a time when this type stuff, was handled out of court. But, not any more, not since our nation has become a bunch of wimps. This is why there is so much of these type incidents these days.. I believe in individual responsibility, but nowadays, it's someone else's....

Hey the costs were kept down by not running the proper utilities to the snack bar #154. Maybe you should lease it when the city is done investing our resources in it. It could be a great business venture!

I understand your feelings, 1:54. But I believe you are missing the point. Do the math. This ten dollar idiot will require police time for being written up and booked, then travel to the court, then back to jail afterwards, then, if he can't afford either a lawyer or bail we will provide same. After probation folks write up their report, the court will have no choice but to fine him $20. Either that or take him back to jail, which is free to the taxpayers. I don't have the answer, but this theft will cost us thousands of dollars and won't change a thing.
