WDT: Total jail outboarding expenses decrease in 2015; pod renovation proves cost-effective way to house more inmates

Sheriff Colleen O'Neill has dramatically reduced the number of inmates housed elsewhere and successfully converted jail space used for recreation into space for inmates.
People want to elect someone who will do the job and she seems to be doing just that.

Give her credit, to bad it was started under Sheriff Burns. His term was up before the State gave permission to house the inmates in there.

Thank you Sheriff Oneil for being helpful in the savings of my tax dollars. I cant image what you could accomplish if you had some help on the legislature. You and Addie Russell have teamed up to bring some stability to this County.

7:40, BS. Give credit where it is due, and try not to make a fool of yourself and make a partisan statement out of it. Help on the legislature? That's a very old story, and one without credibility. What Addie the Maid adds to the discussion is only known to people like you. If you want to credit another person in this, talk about Sheriff Burns. He got much of this going. I like Sheriff O'Neil. I do wish she had more courage regarding Benito's move toward dictatorship. But she has to play the game a bit here in CuomoLand.

Give us some examples where the county legislature has helped the sheriff's dept in the past 915. Or are you just venting again?

915.. Its not me thats the fool.. There is no partisan statement here. This legislature is one of the weakest in the state with probably the exception of SLC. Mr Burns did and excellent job as Sheriff but the partisan freaks like yourself continually wanted more from him. When he had problems and was trying to solve them people like you piled on instead of trying to help in any constructive way. Ms Oneil i s going to be a good Sheriff and in time may want to dip her toe into real politics. Ms. Russell has represented this area very well and remember another thing she votes with the majority not the minority like yourself. Your party girl Ritchie has proven without doubt that she is a sit back do nothing legislator and votes with the felons on the Senate floor. She hasnt even had the backbone to return the money for her campaigns that Skelos, and Libos gave her and disowned them in public except for her spineless statement that it was unfortunated. Reading this blog has given me insite into what partisan politics is all about and your it..

I remember the old ways the jail used to get it cleared out a bit. They used to take some of the dumb ass criminals (drunks and low level lowlifes) into work programs at the jail. If they did well, they got out faster. It worked. Cleared the beds. It doesn't take big plans. Most people in jail are better off out and back into their low level life. Even sitting on welfare they cost us less.
