WDT: Ogdensburg’s new manager touts city’s potential

With a new six figure city manager, Ogdensburg's new CEO has set her priorities, but I don't see much mention of the Mayor or Council's objectives in this story. Maybe they don't have any, but following their lead is the presumed job of the CM under this form of government.
Sarah Purdy comes from Yates County and seems an accomplished administrator,  and with a new Mayor in office, we will see what relationship develops in the Maple City.
Having seen this form of government for some time, It tends to consolidate more power in the unelected and marginalizes public control through elected officials.

Only six figures? Sounds like Dexter and Brownville should waste no time and merge, then they could hire a six figure manager and no one would blink. Or maybe Alex bay and Clayton. That would be cool if they could annex the Cape too. Six figure and free windmills. Perfect.

A number of years ago Yates County built the "palace" of a county building raised taxes for all, Check it out on line, St. Lawrence County should be sold to Canada, at least it's citizens would be eligible for FREE healthcare...

Mr Pinkerton made somewhere between eithty five and ninty thousand per.. She signed on for about one twenty five per... For being a county manager and getting less than that to a city of nine to ten thousand .. That math dosnt add up.. I guess she may have to hire an assistant manager like the county did.
Your right the managers goals need to be the direction the council tells her but in this case we still got a council that shakes their head like howdy doody and how the puppeteer wants..

Clayton does not want to merge with anybody. They are too cool.

And nobody would want to merge with them and get sucked into those taxes.

The council here is challenged at best , we best have a VERY competent city manager or the city will continue a downward slide . John Pinkerton was and is a CLASS act , hopefully his replacement will prove her worth , if not make the change .
