Watertown Considers Permanent Outdoor Skating Rink | WWNY TV 7

This is a good idea. A permanent concrete form for outdoors rather than flooding a parking lot or a field.  It seems reasonable in cost although with other things promised like a new pool in the park, it may be a heavy lift politically.

Permanent concrete rink would be a nice addition for the fairgrounds in the coming years, BUT we need to finish paying on all of our other city Debts before we can even think of writing any more checks. And we do not need to over engineer this small project either .

Put a concession stand over there and bid it out. How about we concentrate on what we have or will have?? When we master that, then, we can look at alternative recreational options. Since Mr. St. Croix left the rec participation and programs have dwindled and the moral over there is certainly down. One project at a time please.

Agree with 2:15, the parks department has become a bigger joke than it was before. Never saw St. Croix on TV every other day touting some stupid idea like the woman in there now

Of course participation is down. The current department is charging for, collecting and cashing checks!!! No more free usage.

This is a dumb idea. The city has yet to find a vendor for the new skating rink. Yet Ms. Gardner and Mayor Butler are talking about another expense? Foolish pigeons...

I agree with 9:58. Let's look at only one venture at a time, and as its completed in 2 years we will start another. That's how we do things on Watertown, which is why we lose people to other areas.

Actually we lose people because there's nothing to do.
.....except eat and complain

Yeah, let's build a skating rink. And then we can put a roof over it. Then add some walls. Oh wait, been there, done that...

Slow down City Council. We have a lot of other things to pay for before we go off spending more money we don't have.....

9:40..i get ya. My above comment was based more on the obvious incompetence of those leading these projects more than the ideas. You are spot on in regards to the complaining, but, when will the current leadership (or past) give us reasons not to?

Outdoor rink, great idea! Deduct the cost of the project from Ms. Gardners salary.
When she has to suffer the cost of these projects then maybe she will rethink these new ways of spending city residents money.

Did anyone of these cynical people ever play outdoors as a child?
