The long time prohibition against alcoholic beverage sales on Sunday morning has prompted calls for a change, but the change being proposed is typical "Albany stupid."
The legislation would allow individual permits to licensees to be issued in the public interest. Presumably that is for brunch or on the rare occasions when a Buffalo Bills game is played in London.
The state already has lifted the ban on beer sales in stores on Sunday morning, and the opening time for bars and restaurants should be the same....8AM....
If it is wrong to ingest on Sunday morning, then it should be for all, otherwise just issuing permits for some is preferential.
