COR Has Expanded from Shopping Centers to Inner City Projects

The Post Standard has a nice piece on COR Development, the firm known throughout CNY for its many projects, especially in the Inner Harbor area of Syracuse. COR is also the developer of Mercy Heights, the mega project in downtown Watertown that will be transforming the city center here.
Their first entry into NNY was out in the Town of Watertown when shopping centers were built.

COR Brass With Governor Cuomo and CNY Leaders
The melding of political connection and development has allowed projects to happen where they wouldn't otherwise, and my experience with COR was they do what they said they would.
Mercy Hospital and related blight is gone now and redevelopment is slated to be outlined later this year.

The last thing watertown needs is more rental units. However there really isnt anything else that makes sense for the city.

The melding of political connection and development does nothing until a healthy dose of corporate welfare PILOTs are doled out.

COR reneged on the Carthage project.

Nice puff piece. Had the same hard-hitting style of a Wikipedia entry.

Mercy is not going to happen Jeff, come to terms with it. If they do it is a very poor business move on their part with the housing glut in Watertown. 801's being foreclosed on, vacant houses and apartments all over city.
COR is smarter than that

How bout the Mercy Heights parking garage?

Maybe they should concentrate on market rate apartments, with no welfare people allowed. There is definitively a need in this area for nice housing that does not include some 20 year old and her three kids, four boyfriends and related drama.(reference your post 'why are taxes so high') This notion of mingling people who pay their own freight with public assistance types is ludicrous. Who who would pay to live next to that trash?? There are really no apartment buildings in this town that a respectable person would want to live in. Maybe COR could fill that niche.

Sorry 8;52 no FREE money for at-market apts, 34% have to be the 20 yr. old with 3 kids and 4 boyfriends types with FREE Cellphones, just like the old Social Security bldg. 2 million was invested and I've not seen to many homeless in the area, of course the types that advocate for the 20 yr. old with 3 kids and 4 boyfriends and a FREE cell phone say........???? There's the real waste of tax dollars..
