WDT: SUNY Potsdam President on Defense

What is going on up there ? Who's running the show ?
Let's do this scientifically. There are a couple other big schools near SUNY Potsdam, existing in the same Confederate flag-draped community the SUNY President says is problematic for students.
Are the other schools plagued by hate and racism ?
These student "demands" come from who ? What's their legitimacy to be able to extract promises from the President ? Does the professional staff, who I assume is diverse, feel there are issues ?
President Esterberg is a sociologist by trade and she has a challenge on her hands as the focus is off education and on activism students saw on TV from places like Missouri and Ithaca.
President Kristin Esterberg
I know it doesn't appear this way to the MSM, but people are shaking their heads and sighing loudly every time they read another chapter in this story.
Get it together or at least go home for Christmas and hope everyone gets over all this.

Online manifestos are never a good thing.

What a Free fall in failed leadership at Potsdam ! Your points about this NOT being an issue at the other 3 colleges in Canton ,Potsdam are well taken .

Potsdam's Having to call in the cavalry from SUNY Central to "handle this " yet another taxpayer expense is another viable sign of the inability to solve this locally Leadership does not waffle or cave to mobs see Ithaca college

Why is mob psychology that has employed intimidation by storming the deans offices and demanding firings and other demands being entertained . This is not an inclusive group nor has it captured the interest of the overwhelming majority of students and faculty who are busy doing what serious committed students and faculty do

Interests NOT demands should be discussed , alternatives agreed upon and then get BUSY with doing what the TUITION and TAXPAYING supporters EXPECT from a publically financed institution of higher education . This sideshow is a detraction that needs to end .

The MSN knows that people shake their heads at the fact that this is even covered. But their goal is to influence opinion of those who are not shaking their heads. They just don't realize how few are NOT shaking their heads.

One can see that honesty, integrity, and balance is not a requisite to be a Potsdam president. Grow a pair, lady, and tell the little snots where to get off.

THEY MAKE TO MUCH OUT OF THINGS THESE DAY ONE BAD WORD AND THERE IS RACE CLASSES FOR MONTHS. ONE PERSON IS A JERK AND EVERYBODY GOES ON THE MARCH . CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS THEN THERE WAS. IF YOU HAVE A FIGHT AND ONE PERSON IS BLACK ITS RACIST NOT JUST TWO PEOPLE ACTING UP AND JUST HAVING A FIGHT. ITS GOOD TO HAVE RIGHTS BUT IT SEEMS LIKE WE ARE JUST ABUSING THEM GOING OVERBOARD.

I can't help thinking the average folk just isn't impressed by this pretend victimhood. The posts here seem pretty one sided. I also believe most think this pretend administrator has obviously been out of the real world for a long, long time. It kinda shows that if your job is to practice political correctness on a full time basis you loose much of your common sense. Which brings us to dug Johnson's Weakly Reader. What is it that gets Washington Street so excited about such BS? Day after day, the people stupid enough to buy that paper are greeted to endless photos of children stomping their feet and demanding to be safe in a place where someone wrote dirty notes. How terrible life must be. And the Johnson's wonder why their business is a laughingstock. And Mizz Esterberg does the math to figure out just how many times she needs to bend over to keep her imaginary job. Please lady, just a little bit more. You can do it. You are one of the most feeling people any of us has ever seen.

The search committee and college council (who by the way are the public's representatives) that hired this president knew what her background was and after a national search , this is who they hired .

Potsdam is now embroiled in a seemingly endless social controversy and agitated turmoil for the past six month's by a few disgruntled students and very few faculty. Is this coincidental or random ???

We have lived in the environs for 5 decades and seen Potsdam presidents come and go but none with this level of strife and controversy in the first year. What is wrong at that college .?

. The original offender was identified and is being dealt with , the rest smells like agenda driven PC overreaction and acquiescense .Could this be the new normal at Potsdam or will cooler heads prevail.
