WDT: Lack of snow is curse for retailers and ski resorts, blessing for highway departments

Lesson number one of life in these times. It's all about me.
If the mild weather benefits you, your livelihood or business...it's great.   If it doesn't, you are pining to the media on cue.
Not spending on heating, plowing, frozen pipes combines with an ease for customers to get out and about. That's all good. Last year on New Year's Eve, a snowstorm crippled all of us. Nobody cared, nor should they.
Can't change the weather, so make the best of it. We mild weather advocates had to do that last February.

Not one dime of hwy money allocated to them should be spent until winter is over. The legislative body that governs each dept should keep the money to use for a rainy day and not allow it to be spent.

LOL. Budget it and they will spend it. Not in the public domain nature to save. Taking taxpayer money year after year and more after more is an entitlement.

The one thing you can count on though, the owner of Dry Hill to be on the news whining! Last year it was to much snow, this year no snow. Every year hes whining about something.

That sounds good 8:46 and there may be somewhat of a savings but the payroll is something that has to be met regardless of snow removal.
Now we have crews standing around doing little to nothing or doing make work projects.

During the lack of snow period they can be sweeping the city streets and making road repairs. sweeping the streets keep leaves and debris along the curb from plugging the storm drains. .
