WDT: Cape Vincent in the Holiday Spirit

The fun is already starting in the Cape as Dems are going after Supervisor Elect Debra Suller. The issue is whether the new Supervisor would keep the clerk who serves at the pleasure of the Supervisor.
Elections have consequences, or so I thought.  Whether someone in a patronage job has a job when things change is a consequence of change.
But the noteworthy point is that Cape Vincent politics seems alive and well.
In most town governments, there is never opposition and the person in charge is there because most people are not interested or even know what the position entails.

The voters up in the Cape will probably regret ever putting Wiley in office. He doesn't seem to care much what the law says. He won't be happy unless a relative has the job. Sounds a lot like the old Reinbeck town board, they didn't hesitate to ignore or break the laws either.. It's a bad joke on the taxpayers.

If the clerk loses her job over this she has only herself to blame by blabbing to the whole town what the new supervisor may have told here in confidence. So, why would anyone trust her now?

Let me take a guess here Jeff. The confidential secretary to the Cape superintendent was campaigning against the newly elected superintendent and now she wonders why she can't be trusted. What do you think?

Ignorance is bliss, except in Cape Vincent where it is a symptom of in-breeding.

The Weed video will draw more interest than Star Wars and without makeup to make Wiley look from another world.

Don't judge good dems by what the morons in the cape do. Addie stay away from their brand.

That's what happens when you have a group of tourists try to run a town that they don't actually reside in. What's next, when people stay for a few weeks somewhere in a hotel they will start voting in those elections ?

CV - Poverty brought to you by part time tourists

You won't allow this but Ted Ford has got to do something about them.

The most intriguing politics in the most do-nothing, nothing-to-do town in Jefferson County.

Hey 12:22...

Its December the nut jobs you see in the video are not summer people they are the idiots who stay behind to inbreed.

Years ago the confidental secretary to the DA was let go after a new DA took office. She took the case all the way through the courts of the state and the decision was upheld.. Personal and confidental are appointed and serve at the pleasure...

2:18 has a point. Why would you judge a good Democrat for the actions of the moronic Republican?

Well said.

The Cape, Clayton, The Bay - all the same. Larger than life (in their own minds), self indulgent and above the norms of mere locals, they elected play out their political lives at the expense of those who voted them in.

When offered a choice, in some case, any choice, the incumbents go out and the next class enters.

Wiley should have egg on his face after the lawyers opinion about the confidential secretary issue was made public, but I doubt he is bright enough to even know how ridiculous he sounded.. What a blowhard! If this is an example of what he calls open and fair government, the poor town (and supervisor) is in for a wild ride.

Sounds like Wiley himself did the exposing of confidential stuff. What a clown to let the secretary get dragged in. Remember it was another Wiley that did the illegal voter law and all the troubles with the bad ethics business.

Anonymous said...

ME again. and watch the video. What a bunch of bullies and thugs to do that stuff to the town. That secretary should be fired along with Wiley.

FYI Mr. Mayor.
The hot tempered Dan Wiley is a blood relative of Paul Aubertine
another less than bright light on their town board. And he is the son of mr. ethics Darryl Aubertine who runs that questionable private water district. And, they are all bullies and they got plans for Paul to run against Addie Russell in a primary. Only hope that this diseease not not spread to the rest of county democrats.

I took the suggestion and watched a Steve Weed video of the Cape meeting to see what all the fuss was about. Yikes!! This Wiley character seems pretty tightly wound. Wonder why he felt compelled to make such an ass of himself during privilege of the floor, when in several weeks he will actually be sitting in a position of authority? Rumors from his past school board history are not favorable.

Wherever YOU live ,give thanks it's not in the Cape . These folks have got themselves in a ringer with this town board, especially with Wiley playing his bully part.

Another funny part was the woman yelling at someone because a house sale in one of the water districts fell through . Guess a bank wanted nothing to do with some illegal water hookups that go on out there..She was pretty mad, but it sounds like ,really, she should have been mad at her husband and the other folks who are selling water illegally. What a goofy town! Maybe they need a better lawyer.

10:27?

Position of authority? I don't think so. A position of vote? Yes. And that is dangerous. Right now in CV Paul Aubertine with the support of Marty Mason and maybe Ed Bender and Dan Wiley have already sent vibes that they will eliminate Steve Weed and those videos. Next might be the POF at public meetings that we use as you saw in that video These ringers were all part of the campaign of hate and prejudice against the majority of the people who are part time residents, pay their taxes all year, pay the higher taxes, over 70% of the taxes yet do not use the services all year. Collectively these men are bullies, lied to us during their campaign and they intend to null and void anything that we have accomplished. They are bad for our business as us can see from their behavior and what you read in the Times which by the way is only half of the horridness that they have brought to our community while the rest of us work to bring it together with things like the Christmas Parade, community events. That water district is bad news and is the center of much of the bad ways these guys do things for their own personal gain. The democrat committee drives much of the serious problems and they have no intention of healing anything. Campaign of lies.

A horrible school board member. Clayton wanted nothing to do with that man. Anger management might be in order. Bully!!!!!

Real scumbags even taking advantage of an older persons health condition.

Could be another side of the story why Maloney got into this jam. What is there to understand about Suller's right to confidence by an employee? The Cape sure is entertainment.

10:10 I don't really think there is any great mystery as what is going on in the Cape. It is perfectly normal and common for a new supervisor to change secretaries, especially a first time ever woman supervisor. I don't know a single woman who wouldn't do the same thing given the circumstances. This is a purely political move by Wiley to assert his super-ego on the town. Anyone who knows him will attest to it.

Anonymous said...

What will the new Clayton Super do with the previous Super's hand picked assistant? And what will be the price to the taxpayers?

12:22 - Right On!

Merry Christmas to the tourist who got property in the Cape.

Pay your taxes, shut up, spend money, donate, don't you dare give your opinion and vote.

Your friendly TB, Danny, Marty, Eddie and Paul.

10:10

Mistakes have made. There is too much anger from both sides of this issue. But, is this what Christmas should be in Cape Vincent? Is that what Jeff was getting at with his headline, "Cape Vincent in Holiday Spirit"? Let's hope than anyone reading this thread of comments will calm down. Please understand why the anger and let this whole discussion pass without anymore and let this all pass until our new board themselves calm down as well.

God bless the new town board, the old town board, the seasonal residents who are not with us this time of year and let this pass.

Anonymous said...

Your friendly TB as your put it 12:22 has vowed to heal the community. The seasonal tourist have taken a hit during all of this with the voter laws and actions against there voting and the Board of Elections. But this is a new year. It is a new town board and they should be given a chance, even in the cooperation with Debra Suller. It is my friendly town board, too. It is all of us. The Mayor has stuck a nerve with all of us. Let's bring the issue back to town and resolve it and not here.

Anonymous said...

The CV board could start to heal the community by withdrawing what looks like a move to get rid if the Steve Weed videos that are so valuable to us who are not home during the winter months. And by the way Dan Wiley and Ed Bender (and Debra) I voted for you both and I did not expect the anger and I do not expect that you will shut down the videos. Don't bring up workers in public.

Anonymous said...

Yikes! Watch the CV Board Meeting video of Dec 17.
Pay close attention to the discussion between
TB member's Mason and Aubertine which they did not
know was on the mike.

The town ensured problems when they imported votes from people who don't live there. I have never seen a town with so much wind, but no windmills. And they're so environmentally sensitive, except for the sewage they dump in the St Lawrence from the trailer parks. Love that town.

Anonymous said...

Hey ! Clayton dumps too!

Anonymous said...

10:47, "The town ensured problems when they imported votes from people who don't live there" that is garbage! Residents fully entitled to vote by law, were encouraged to vote in Cape Vincent to have a voice in the future of the town they are vested in. Get yourself familiar with the law before you insult people who rightfully engaged in the democratic process. The real issue you should consider is why was it necessary and what prompted so many to register there. Can you say "corrupt government" ?

Anonymous said...

Cape Vincent became what is perhaps the most corrupt government in NYS. When they were removed they vowed to take back the cape. And, they did and now it is what it is with the Dan Wiley situation. As for the town employee there might be good reason why a very intelligent person would step forth and help educate the waywerd political force that ACTUALLY SUPPORTED THE PREVIOUS UNETHICAL GOVERNMENT.

What has been brought out is what scumbags these Cape democrats and rinos endorsed by democrats are. My first experience with them is when the democrats endorsed Marty Mason's sister as town clerk and shortly after she was convicted of stealing over thirty thou from the town citizens. Not one democrat including the Wiley scumbags spoke out against the conflicts of interest. In fact, they said they town board was doing a good job even if they had conflicts of interest. I do not believe the town government and the highway dept (Mason's Uncle) can be trusted and I only hope that Supervisor Suller will be supported and will not back down to these inbreeds.

Anonymous said...

The Times and editorial this morning have agreed with everyone here that said Dan Wiley, Paul Aubertine, Ed Bender and Marty Mason were wrong.

Yes anon above, the idiots who have screwed up that town are the ones that stay there all winter making up their own rules while dreaming of and promoting their self importance. Because we leave to get stay warm they claim we have no rights to vote and have a voice. This is what you will get with these guys. Just a start for them I betcha.

It was a campaign of lies and false promises.

Dan Wiley owes the citizens of CV an apology.
