WDT: Calling Out the Liberal Elites on Their Pet Stereotypes and Slurs

A letter writer to the WDT takes Perry to task for his use of the pejorative "Joe Sixpack" in a recent column about guns. The phrase likely rolled off Perry's keyboard with no thought to the hateful implication of the term for many NNY residents.

The phrase is code for fat, drunk, and low education. That's really what the phrase means.

Watertown Daily Times | Columnist needs to define term ‘Joe Sixpack’

The letter writer dosnt understand what Mr White meant and neither do most. I take the phrase to mean every day guy what does he think it stands for... Obviously gun freaks are on the defensive these days as the day and age of the second ammendment as we know it are doomed.
The can run the smear campaign, they can lie and blow everything out of proportion but the bottom line things are going to change and soon.
They can be part of a common sense change or they can continue to try and intimidate people either way the change is comming.

I may be a "Joe six pack" but unlike the gun hating lib above,I have the ability to spell (doesn't,amendment, coming) everday words.Guys like that are supposed to be intelligent and able to make decisions about MY personal security?! Not no way,not no how,kemosabe..

I always felt it meant working class. An everyday Joe.

The problem is many names were never meant to be pejorative. However, names over time acquire negative connotations in certain circles. It seems it is the media elite who pick and chose which we can and can not use and which people should be excoriated for using one on the black list (or is more politically correct to say naughty list)

Out of all the stupid ideas, thoughts and opinions in the Perykos article, along with all the misinformation and factually challenged statements, this dimwit singled out the use of the pejorative "Joe Sixpack", to take him to task over? Sounds like that is the only thing Perry got right.

I've never thought of "Joe Sixpack" as a slur. "Redskins" is a slur. Trump using "rapists", "schlong" or "fat pigs" are slurs.

947.. My spelling is very bad and I,m sorry. I recieved my education from people like yourself and that certainly is a great NRA trick to get the attention off the truth of the subject. Changes are coming and very soon, its a reality that you better get used to.
Even teachers like yourself will have to adjust to life without guns.

Nice to hear from you, NY21. Are you ready to apologize for your BS about the mass exodus of NYers being a "myth", in your words. Or are you going to do what our golfer does, and deny saying what you said? As far as your post, typical out of context, dishonest crap. Your party seems incapable of telling the truth about anything, as it were.

Joe Six Pack is just another example of liberal elitism. They always view themselves as better than others.

Oh bullshit 738,don't pass off your inability to spell junior high words to your teachers, you either didn't work hard enough or am not intelligent enough to get it.And if you are dumb enough to bend over and give up your right to defend yourself, that is your option and a plus to the improvement of the gene pool,in my estimation. So go lick the boots of Hill and the other gun grabbers, but don't expect me to give mine up anytime soon,I have lived in this state much longer than her.Besides her day will be over when people see the Benghazi movie released very soon.

Agree with 9:07 the elitist is NY21 and 7:38 that only received a public paid by the taxpayers education since his parents couldn't care less where their offspring they no longer like or proud of since he got real educated and surpassed their intellectual capacity and they no longer relate to him, always was and always will be.

What members of what party are always calling out 'Rapist' why OMG isn't it our very own Senator Gilly. Well he needs only to wait his turn when his son or maybe one day when the relationship he had with his partner turns south and either the elitest male or female partner then claim 'rape' and he has to dig deep to defend his reputation.

What 7:37 forgets to mention that any donations to the GOP party by the NRA are always dwarfed by the campaign contributions to the Libs by the Teachers Union.

9:08We will all be happy when Hillary and Obama are tried for treason and behind bars.

The pointy headed editor is not taking facts into consideration in any of his opinions. He makes no exception to his habit of ignoring facts when he pigeonholes gun owners into the wrong demographic, using a pejorative to show his contempt for the brave people who exercise their fundamental right to be able to protect themselves.

As you can see by the link below, college graduates and people with advanced degrees represent a significant portion of gun owners. People with a high school education or less, make up only 22% of gun owners.

It should come as no surprise that Perry's opinion of wanting more gun control is in agreement with 51% of people with less than a HS education. And also the largest demographic that agrees with him are 18+ year old females. So Perry take comfort that you are in good company with your effeminate uneducated opinions.

That's really neat, 12:03. Calling people gay while claiming to be educated. Sad revelation of your mindless bias and bigotry. And you claim 18+ age females love gun control. Could be true. But that demographic could be expected to feel that way. Why don't we poll police officers and the military? They have more knowledge and experience with firearms than any other group. You wouldn't want that, would you? No, your party made sure their absentee votes were thrown out the last election. The only vet who supports the Liar in Chief is a full time golfer. He does this while mouthing all his controller tells him to. Support for gun control is dropping rapidly. Only in urban settings has support remained unchanged.

Jebus H Kerist 2:28, you have a REAL reading comprehension problem. I called no one gay. I merely said that Perry's opinion regarding guns is effeminate in that such opinions are held mostly by young womyn and in line with the opinions of the majority of high school drop-outs. I gave a link supporting the assertion. That means I am arguing on your side of this issue, not against you.
