Syracuse DPW saving big with no snow in CNY | WSTM

This is state-the-obvious journalism but it's true we are all saving a bit with the mild late fall weather. Snow removal and heating is the most obvious.

After last year, we deserve a break. Not that I am suggesting we are entitled.

All DPWs and county Hwy depts are saving. Smart politicans would figure up just how much saved and return it to the funds of the county and out of the budgets of these depts. If left there it will be spent on other things and then when the snow does fly they want more.

Plow drivers live for the OT clocked in the winter.

Fort Drum has 3 crews still working every day for Snow Plowing.

Must be the Money is good for taxpayers to keep paying for this.

Almost forgot - there is no snow to plow.

no matter how mild of a winter we have , DPW will use any money left in the snow budget on overtime cruising the city streets at night.

They're saving because of gas prices too. What are the chances they'd save it for a harsh winter?

DPW (city) are on 24 hour shifts since Thanksgiving and will be till spring. Since no snow they do road repair and other chores that can be caught up on before plowing begins. But of course that does not fit your bitching does it 12:12? Better to find out the whole story before opening you trap maybe?

With the money your saving from not having to plow city streets , resume tearing down the rest of the abandoned dump homes in the city that the owners have been neglecting for years.
