Is Donald Trump destroying the Republican Party? - BBC News

Lots of hand wringing, but this year where there was bragging of the deep stable of candidates, lots of worrying too..
Not as much about winning the White House, but the down ballot races. There is fear federal and state office holders will face a tougher time as a result of all this Trump stuff.
Here's the plus side. More people than ever will be interested in the December 15 debate on CNN and if there is a deep stable, won't that come forward ?
The one with the best chance may be Governor Christie who can blend brash with mainstream gravitas.
Cruz ? Carson ? No.....Fiorina has faded. Rand Paul is weak. Kasich never caught on. It's really down to Bush, Christie or Rubio....Unless they all flounder and the establishment turns to Mitt Romney.

The GOP is destroying themselves. Every time Trump says something controversial in the dainty eyes of the MSM, the GOP attacks him. Cruz and Walker played it right this summer when they refused to comment on Trumps sensible plan to enforce our immigration laws and borders. You will not ever see the MSN key in on the whack job comments of democrats and you will not see the democrats denounce any of the whack job comments. In Romney's election he and every republican had to comment on Akin's comment and that story was the lead on every MSM outlet.

So, the MSN is the biggest factor in destroying them other than the GOP players themselves.

Trump's plan to refuse admittance of Muslims until better screening procedures are in place is a decent idea in concept. San Berndino exemplified this gaping hole in our security. However instead of talking about screening and why tens of billions of dollars a year are failing to catch terrorist among us, MSM and the GOP establishment prefer to label Trump thus heading any real discussion.

PS, this anon doesn't even like Trump but he has a point worth talking about here.

He needs to seek that third party and really ruin them. He is a wrecking ball.

7:36, some good points. But maybe, just possibly, the American people are tired of liars, actors, scam artists, and traitors. What Trump talks about would never be discussed if he wasn't there. It all would be about global warming, guns that run around shooting people, opening the borders more than they already are, and bending over to muslims everywhere.

Answer is no he is not.. The Republican s are destroying themselves and did so over a period of years.. Anti poor, Anti help people, anti union , wanting war constantly, greed and mistrust. The bottom line is no one trusts the Republican party nor their corrupt and greed politicans who lie and attack the poor at every turn of the clock.

Fascism has always ignored the Democratic process we cherish, Mr. Trump merely wants it honored! The GOP rumor mill includes ignoring the voters will and pushing a brokered convention where GOP Party bosses choose someone,--anyone evidently -- but Donald J. Trump. That sounds a lot more like fascism to me then stopping the flow of Muslim immigrants into America, until we can weed out the Muslim, terrorists, trying to slip into America to perform terrorists attacks. The Trend: A political discussion starts about one party's problems and such and then suddenly, bingo, the focus shifts to the opposite view: (1) attack the MSM, or (2) "lefties/or DEMS" or "Mr. Obama (always)" as the cause and seldom if ever blame "ourselves" or "themselves." Why is that?

Oh, yeah, a lack of "taking responsibility" and cleaning up your/or our own messes internally.

For goodness sake let's all stop the new American fav pastime: "The Blame Game..." It's just like a new T-rump reality show - and we all should be fired ...!!! Me, too.

Mikey, you call Trump fascist, while we have Benito here in NY and The Liar in Chief ruling by executive order in Washington? Stange thinking. Then you foam about the GOP?You have been making much sense of late. Not today.

Just maybe, the silent majority of this great nation, are sick and tired of the "pussy posse " , running this country into the dirt. Dan, you are always quick to defend the posse, no matter what. Obama and his posse have done a great deal, to fuel the flames of hatred.. Name one positive thing he has done, to foster patriotism and all-around pride, in the USA... I bet you can't .

The GOP has destroyed itself all the way into taking over the Senate and gaining more seats in the house. They have destroyed themselves to the point that Trump polls higher against the leading democrat than he ever has in all the history of the decades of his aspirations to be president.
^{that's sarcasm gun barrel sucker nut}

In all seriousness, when will you ask the real questions: Did Obama destroy the democrat party? Is Hillary destroying the democrat party?

O'Bama has destroyed America. Who cares about the party. Trump speaks with a voice that resonates with many, many natural born American people.

Its in the Constitutions that America HAS to let Muslims into the country anytime they want to come in. To try to stop that is fascism.

7:50, sometimes you get so cool and fashionable nobody knows what you're talking about. This is just such a time.

The establishment is destroying the GOP, but the children of the tea party will replace it and save our nation.

Trump is simply a " JACKASS ". Get real.

No 4:53 I didn't call Mr. Trump a fascist, the media did and so why misrepresent me and what I wrote? I'm pointing out, the media acts 'fascist' themselves when they say the, 'people's vote' shouldn't be honored in primaries by delegates;as in a brokered Convention where the goal is to stop Trump. It won't happen anyway, but the point is the GOP is piling on Trump like they were Democrats, themselves, because they hate him just as much as a Democrat. Well not to many Trump supporter's like myself are all that worried about the Republican establishment in any case. Mike Flynn 'Middle Class Mike'
