Carpinelli Urges Those Licensed to Lock and Load

The North Country's most common sense cop is joining the call for those licensed to bear arms to do so in defense of their families.  Lewis County Sheriff Mike Carpinelli was responding to remarks from his counterpart in Ulster County.
New Yorkers, like many Americans, are increasingly nervous about losing Second Amendment rights while the terrorists get to keep theirs.
The latest revelation from San Bernardino is the shooters received a $28,500 bank deposit shortly before their spree.

That deposit was no doubt from some pro-work-place-violence organization.

How about the guy who shot at the car after the driver attacked him and then got arrested for it with big time bail?
I'd find any victim innocent by reason of self defense for up to five minutes after being assaulted.

Will encouraging guns in public and your place of employment incite more violence? If people "fly off the handle" are we going to go back to gunfights at high noon in our country?
Once carrying a gun is a common occurance, could vigilantism lead to greater civil violence?
We all want to be protected where we work and when we move around to do our marketing and travel. I think we should exhaust all ways to insure our safety without CARRYING guns for personal protection before we resort to such a drastic choice.
We have not done that. Buildings could be made more secure by devices to detect guns having a "leave at the door" policy. And this is just one measure of insuring safety. I am very surprised that Sheriff Carperelli thinks that having police protect us is ineffective since HE is in charge of doing just that. Such opinions should not be said in public by a person in his position.

6:52, in all honesty, I doubt anyone knows what you are talking about. Please do explain.

Carpinelli is old school. He is not constrained by party loyalty. There isn't an instance where if confronted with an act of terrorism, having an armed honest citizen there wouldn't help. We all know it. We are just constrained by our party line loyalty and gushing love for all the things Benito gives us. Obama, pretty much the same story. The dumbasses who supported him are now too embarrassed to admit their stupidity. So the show goes on.

I for one am glad that he reminded us of our civic duty to protect oursleves, and each other. The process of obtaining an unrestricted CWP in NY is arduous and extensive. We can not merely sit back and wait for a police force constrained by budgetary staffing, to mop up the blood of our neighbors.

When you call 911 expect a wait as the Sheriff's down in LaFargeville doing a program at Ted's fav school, or at Ft. Drum doing operation kiddie ID, or rt 81 doing a speed trap, the response time could be slowed if there driving the MRAP...lol

By god I think the man is right.. We all should carry.. Vote for people who will abolish all law enforcement agencies and we can protect our own.. The drug war is lost anyway and so if someone is caught with a joint just shoot them or string them up..
Of course gun rights advocates would have to put white sheets back on their heads to cover their faces... Just hope some kid playing with a drone or something similar dosnt get shot by some maniac who panics...Carpinelli is not only old school hes a idiot.. He only matters in his backwoods county..

Apparently 548 Lewis is the same as St Lawrence... Three doing DARE one checking Cameras for homeland security one visiting girlfriend in Edwards. Daily you see Sheriff, UnderSheriff, Road Sgts Jail Sgts, Jail Administrators, Civil Sgt. Three or Four Detective Sgt plus the dispatchers... If theres and emergency they call in a road car to answer.. If its something that will draw the media then the office emptys.

You might want to ask the House and Senate GOP about that which you posted re: their recent vote to allow anyone on the 'no-fly list' to get a gun ...

... and BTW: no one is coming for our guns and never have ... jeez.

New Yorkers, like many Americans, are increasingly nervous about losing Second Amendment rights while the terrorists get to keep theirs.

Is this the same knuckhead who tried to sell the county boat for guns?? Hopefully he will be voted out next cycle. What a tool.

Dan, again the facts run contrary to your force fed speeches. You say no one is coming for your guns.
Well, I'll concede, if you don't count magazine restrictions, carry restrictions, needless delays in obtaining permits (for a Constitutional right mind you), arbitrary bans on black guns, ammo background checks, registrations, bans altogether in safe cities like the one owned by your hero, permits that approve carry only inside your home (unless need is proven to your type of deep thinker), and forcing people to deal with approximately 20,000 gun laws nationwide, I'd say you were right. Even though the huge majority of gun owners are peaceful, law abiding people, people like you advocate passing more and more and more laws that your inner city boys just don't seem to follow. The towel heads broke bunches of laws in doing what they did, but you're so dumb you think if we just pass a few more they will stop murdering people. I just don't understand that kind of stupidity.

5:49, you are a politically controlled coward. Carpinelli is a finer American than you or anyone in your family. Here's hoping if you or yours ever find yourselves in a violent situation, there's a real person around to take care of you. If they know you personally, they might choose to not get involved. I know I wouldn't, as I don't want to make your lifestyle more violent. Live peacefully, my friend.

For those of you who think gun free would be a Utopian society, I would strongly suggest that you emigrate to one of the 114 countries in the world who bar the private ownership of firearms who all have a higher crime rates than we do. Oh and if you remove the crime rates of DC, NYC, Chitcago and LA (the areas in this country which have for all practical purposes outlawed private firearms ownership) it places the US down around 215th or so of the 218 countries listed. Oh, and what about Switzerland?? They have one of the lowest crime rates in the world and every male citizen of Switzerland is required by law to own firearms.
