WDT: St. Hilaire files ethics complaints with the state against Rain; asks for special prosecutor

This is a great food fight gearing up in the Big County.  A rogue DA and a big, blubbery county bureaucracy.....now the state boys are involved and the AG can take some time off from closing that business on Franklin Street to dwell on the ethics, if you will, of St. Lawrence County.

The Attorney General should do this investigation and Rain should drop hers. It's that simple. Let the AG do an objective, independent review, which Ms. Rain simply can't since her office appears to be as culpable as anyone. Rain's office didn't apply for a grant; how can she credibly investigate who dropped the ball? Missing a grant application isn't criminal, and the alleged forfeiture expenditure didn't to go anyone's pocket, so it's not criminal either. What Mary Rain is doing here is an embarrassment, facially unethical, and maybe criminal in itself (read up on Official Misconduct, conflicts of interest, grand jury confidentiality, press statements during a grand jury investigation). The Attorney General should get to bottom of all of this-- including a review of whether Rain is abusing her office and the grand jury for revenge or to get better office space. To send subpoenas to her political foes seeking 10 years of records is reckless and reeks of a personal vendetta. She's supposed to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest-- this isn't just an appearance, here, it's a perfect example. Let the Attorney General review this (it'll take them a couple days at most), save us the cost of a bunch of lawyers working to produce documents for Rain's witch hunt, and let all of us move on. I hope the Grievance Committee gives this a good hard look too. If Rain were to be disbarred or have her license suspended, the Governor could remove her and appoint a successor. That seems like the best outcome here.

8:13, I agree..."missing a grant application isn't criminal"...unless it was missed on purpose by the person or office, who historically was paid and employed to apply for it. Sounds like a vengeful action did occur, but not on the part of the DA.

Who elected Karen St Hilaire?

The County Administrator is an appointed position, not elected. Don Brining would never have put up with this. The Governor has the power to remove her irregardless of her license status. She has had various prosecutor experience all over the northern part of the state and resigns and leaves on bad terms. She was an assistant part time DA in Jeff County for a while. She was demoted from being the public defender in St. Lawrence and left on bad terms. During her recent ambulance chasing days, she bragged during her campaign that she won a number of trials against Duve thus letting criminals back on the streets to commit new crimes. The Bat Man had to sue her to get paid. He won. Frankly, the woman is a Sociopath. Her picture on the SLC web site is 20 years and 100 pounds ago. Her persona is nowhere near as big as her mouth is. She is ethical trash and should be removed and asked never to show her face in these courts again. Her peers and Duve are shaking their heads. Read up on Sociopaths, Describes Mary to a Tee.

8:16 says when a defendant is found not guilty it means they were guilty and got away with it. How do you know that 8:16? Because they were black? Keep digging that hole and you make it clear why she is shaking up the old boys club in the RINO county.

You also mention she worked all over the north country and then name two jobs.

You also state that Cuomo has the right to dismiss this elected official at a whim. Sounds like you don't like elections? You are a great democrat and true to the party.

Everyone knows how SPECIAL prosecuters work or don't work, remember Jeffereson Countys EMD and the gas and time theftsm a special prosecuter was assigned from St. Lawrence co. and it went nowhere...........
