Suddenly Low Key NY21 Race Leaves Political Class Wondering Where the Excitement Went

The NY21 race is quiet now, especially out west where things were most contentious. Not even a post primary victory lap, which may be by design to allow time for the dust to settle. It hasn't settled in some quarters, but for others its done and time to move on to November.
There are still parades being manned by volunteers with banners and GOP candidate Elise Stefanik will be campaigning out west in mid July.
An appearance by Aaron Woolf at the Jefferson County Fair on Tuesday was cut short by the storm.
There has been no post primary interviews in media, but as they say on Arcade Street, 'its not our job to promote local politicians for free.'
It will be interesting to see if there is coverage of either Mr. Woolf or Ms. Stefanik, or whether we will wait till commercials are bought and then do a news story on who is being too negative.

I heard a good line off a TV show last night. The lady had been mayor of a big town. She was now out of office. She was telling a friend how she had been attacked as a young lady by a rapist. He said he had never heard her say anything about it. She said you never tell anyone something happened to you will in office or just before. It makes you look weak or damaged. So she kept it to herself for years.

Short answer as it applies to our race, no one wants to look weak or damaged at this point. So you hide for awhile and build up the energy to finish it.

O yes and you can't have people walking around telling old stories of damage. Like being caught doing this or that. It tends to make your numbers low. One little kiss of a friend can ruin your chances for life. or 4 times. :)

Matt Doheny warned us at his Republican Primary concession speech that yes Ms. Stefanik had a good night, but Karl Rove had a good night too. Mr. Doheny spoke to having good people working on his campaign and having gone door to door himself. Matt then went on to say that none of that is enough in a race where PAC money like Crossroads and Rove's is buying the race with attack ads. That he just couldn't make up for that disparity. Mr. Doheny asked if we wanted to really live in a district where the seat was bought by outside PAC money? The answer to that is a resounding 'no' we do not want Elise Stefanik to buy a Congressional seat with DC Insider PAC money.

Unfortunately Mr. Aaron Woolf is now forced to answer in kind if she tries to, because the Matt Doheny lose in the Repuiblican Primary does show you have to fight fire with fire and that means raise PAC money of your own if necessary for the General Election campaign. Will Elise Stefanik renounce the use of outside PAC money? No she won't! If she can't beat Aaron Woolf in a fair Congressional race, she'll attempt to buy the seat, with Karl Rove and the DC Insiders like Sen. Paul Ryan and PACs like Crossroads encouraging her to do just that in the General Election. Say no to PAC money buying our Congressional seat in NY-21 and vote for Aaron Woolf!

I was a Doheny supporter, but I can't get myself to vote for this carpetbagger Elise Stefanik. I know a lot of people who feel the same way that I do too.

MCM you make it seem like Ms. Stefanik had to fight back. Be assured the attack by Rove was pre planned before she entered the race. SHe was told to keep clean and let us do your dirty work.

Matt did not create negative campaigning. He did use it as it is effective. (Even though many claim to abhor it they still listen to it.)

I think the lull was expected. We no longer have the September primary and November general. It will be a quite summer and will heat up at the end of September. If they start to early voters don't pay attention and tune them out.

Ms. Stefanik has not forgot the western end. She has been quietly talking to those that did not line up behind her for the primary and being assured they are there for her now.

Middle class Mike is in short to be called no class mike for the rest of this race.. He cut Matt Doheny down like the dog he is for months now. He pointed out weakness after weakness but near the end he changed his tune because he noticed how strong and hard a worker this young lady is. I,m not going to knock Mr Wolfe because I,m really undecided so far because I dont know anything of him, nor her for that matter. I did know Matt Doheny well and I dont like him nor his tactics and certainly his personality.
Matt Doheny defeated himself by being himself.. As far as PAC money goes they all use it no matter who gets it they use it.Wolfe will get some and he will use it, Stefanik will get some and will use it.. It dosnt mean they are bought and sold by outsiders it simply means they are getting help from people who feel they can help Congress in this country.
Mr Doheny has used PAC money in the past and this low class Mike has crucified him for it yet no class Mike loves it when his canidate recieves it and treats it like a gift from the gods..
Yup, this race will be close but I,d hate to think that letters from Low Class Mike influenced many.

8:22AM MCM We were wondering how you were going to spin Aaron Woolf accepting OUTSIDE PAC money and it didn't take you long.

Why don't you get her to sign a Norquirst Pledge like you slammed Doheny for.

I personally don't want to hear that she does not want to accept outside pac money since that is the only way we will be able to win this seat back! As you say "fight fire with fire" and play the Dems. game after all.

Mikey, Mikey, Mikey Give it up will you, why you have lost all credibility, you called Stefanik to win the primary way before the outside pac money even came into the district "buying the election" But you underestimated how much Stefanik is liked in the district.

But your last line is way over the top, so say no to outside pac money buyig the seat but still go ahead and vote for Aaron Woolf. Why in the hell would I vote for Woolf when he and his leftist ideas and party brought the economy to the state we find ourselves in.

You, my man are losing it!

Mike! Dude! Stop playing games! You know the man had damage he couldn't get out from under. You for one brought up that damage many a time. It had some help from PAC money to get out a little more. BUT grow up! We all knew about the Boating will drunks, the kissing of ladies at lunch, and the over the top spending on his wedding day. Plus a page long list of more. PLEASE stop for a while and think where you want to go. Woolf doesn't need a cheerleader. He needs cold hard facts. I for one am glad to know he has no idea about our part of the world and never will. It makes it easy to vote for the young lady.

You're full of it 8:42 many of us who voted for Doheny are now voting for Stefanik .Your democratic tricks only work on guys like Crazy Ray and MCM.I've been to a few GOP gatherings since the election and I haven't heard one person say they were not voting for Her.

What are Democratic tricks? Are they just their tricks or can anyone use them? Is there a play book? How do we sign up? You really make we interested in this 12.36pm. Is there a troll school?

Crazy Ray and MCM, now that right there explains why this country is in the trouble it's in. Mikey, they bought Ray's vote with a fake job. Maybe they can come up with a real one for you. Just keep a pantin'.

As a staunch Republican who always votes along party lines, I am of the firm opinion the 21st. District should go to the highest bidder.

Well in the end Matt Doheny sounded the alarm not MCM. So go blame Matt Doheny if you don't like the fact that the word isout Elise Stefanik bought the race. A guy like Matt Doheny is saying she bought the race. So she bought the race.

Matt's just pissed because he was outspent by a man richer than him. Karl Rove. Matt was more than happy to take PAC money when it was offered to him in 2012, but no one in Washington wanted to support him in 2014 because he behaved so stupidly back when they had been throwing his money. For once Matt felt the consequences of his actions.

mike, mike, mike, mike ,mike; why are there mcm posts and anon posts, that sound like they are both the same person ?? I keep reading your baloney about buying the primary, but yet you refuse to answer a question about the Virginia primary, where little money, beat out lots a money... And I will repeat myself... when Ms. Stefanik was at the starting gate, your horses were at the feeding trough, wondering when the race started... Yes, I am demented for believing in being prepared, and working hard to win...

I am tired of hearing about outside money. Any Woodchuck who complains about the outside money is either biased against a candidate or obviously hasn't taken the time to research the flip side. A majority of people living in upstate NY can not afford to kick around $500 or more to any political candidate. Most I know are struggling to get by with the job they have. Take away that outside money and the pay for play culture will dominate who gets elected to congress. For those that want to point to Eric Cantors loss as a sign I can point to 50 low budget losers who lost to a rich candidate with connections. In this case the two candidates (Woolf/Stefanik) that can win are both receiving money from outside sources and will receive help from PAC's. They both can be considered carpetbaggers depending on the time of day and who you talk to. At the end of the day one of them is going to congress. So the question is.

How have they stood on the issues Woodchucks care about?

Are they flip flopping on the issues?

Mr. Aldrich your an anti-gov't right wing nut job that can only hurt Stefanik who needs to appeal to moderates. Anyone who reads your comments and the comments of your fellow Tea Party nut jobs knows Elise can't win running as a Tea Party type and she isn't going to beat Aaron Woolf who will get moderate Republicans to vote for him.

8:34- that's right. Looks at Matt's life. He has never suffered consequences for his poor choices. He was responsible for the loss of hundreds of jobs while receiving a huge paycheck himself yet he runs around saying he helped "turn companies around". He runs around wi another woman three months before his wedding, gets caught and both he and his fiance's names and pictures are splashed across the tabloids, yet he still somehow manages to get married. For once Matt had to pay the price for his behavior in DC that night. The night that cost him the election in 2012 and resulted in an all out war against him in 2014 launched by the same people he had let down so severely two years earlier. It's about time Matt learn that at least sometimes you have to pay the price for your actions. Money can't get you out of every sticky situation.

Dear 9:23am, where have I said that I am anti-government ? ,and I do not drink tea, sorry.. Why do you have to resort to name calling ? This is usually associated with someone not telling the truth. I grew up on a farm, where if you didn't do much work, you would not have much to eat.. Unlike todays culture, where you do not have to do much of anything , it will be given to you.., Is that what you want ?? If you had any truth to your stories, you would not stoop to posting as anon. Nothing personal, but I believe that a name, should be something to stand behind.. I do not think that this country was founded by anonymous people.. Thank-you for listening.

Why can't Matt Doheny say Elise Stefanik bought the election with Karl Rove PAC money? It's what he believes, and he has a right to express that opinion. I'm sure he has a lot of justification to feel Elise stole the Primary with outside money. Now all of a sudden these Stefanik people want everyone to act like we're on big family and it never happened. But it did happen, the carpetbagger used outside money to buy her way into Congress. I'm not voting for her or Karl Rove, I'll give Woolf my vote now.
