Officials Say Adding Beds Will Help, Not Fix Jail Overcrowding | WWNY TV 7

At some point in the race for Sheriff, issues might surface...One did today with discussion of adding beds. The other issues are standards and practices, as well as relationships with the County Legislature and administration.
With petitions done, candidates who tackle these issues, and maybe others, will gain some traction.
They are all career cops and nobody seems to have any disqualifiers, so who knows....maybe issues will matter.  Wonders never cease.

" They are all career cops and nobody seems to have any disqualifiers, so who knows....maybe issues will matter. Will Wonders never cease?" Mayor Jeff Graham

Mayor now maybe that deeper yearning to hear issues discussed, might move into the Congressional race and even Elise Stefanik will start talking pocketbook issues.

Issues should matter; while the Jail needs to be expanded the luxuries and the day to day operation needs to be straightened out.........No more ATV's, Snowmobiles, Boats, MRAPs, possibly look at the Detective Division, and Road Patrol(no more rt. 81 speed traps) But I think it wont happen, just as any of the folks that run for office locally are in it for themselves, ie. what can I get, rather than what can I give..

Being a career cop would qualify you to run the sheriff's department like being a career bartender would qualify you to run the Speak Easy. That department needs a big-picture manager type to fix it, not a retired pensioned up cop.
