WDT: Children rush together during Easter egg hunt in Watertown on Saturday (VIDEO)

The cold weather didn't dampen the enthusiasm in front of City Hall Saturday for the Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Downtown Business Association, the Historical Society and the City Parks and Recreation Department.

Smiles were everywhere as the children scampered to find over two thousand eggs hidden downtown.

Kudos to all involved !

This is the kind of thing that makes this area a great community, but why does the Historical Society sponsor this???

Why not?

I think it's disgusting that the city spend taxpayer's money on pagan, religious gatherings that take advantage of little kids.

I don't really feel this way but I thought it important to mention in our valueless society.

8:51, Because people who donate to the Historical Society, should be able to assume their donations would be spent on something that has to do with the Historical Society.

The Historical society benefitted from the event. It was sponsored by the City and the Downtown Business Assoc. All the society did was host. Ur donation is safe and congrats to them for thinking of new ways to generate a little income and interest.

10:34, That's good to know that all the historical society did was host the event rather than provide funds for the event. Now all they have to do is sit back and watch those new donations come rolling in from the interest that was generated.
