Judge denies SAFE Act injunction - Times Union

Opponents of the SAFE NY gun law had been touting a lawsuit by activist Bob Schultz as their hope to half implementation of the law, but a judge has said no to injunctive relief related to the Governor's use of a "message of necessity" to quickly pass the law..
Efforts to roll back or repeal the law continue to get messages of support from upstate county legislatures, the latest in Clinton County. However, yesterday's events in Herkimer County continue to focus public attention on gun violence.

“Time for a Second look for each side on Gun Control”

Perhaps we can all work together without the vile accusations that people advocating for stricter Gun Control measures are seeking to attack the gun owner's right to own a fire arm, or to eliminate the 2nd Amendment in America or NYS. Let it be acknowledged by the NRA and the Republican Right Wing that we're seeking only to pass legislation that will help to make our streets safer and less violent.

Although there are those in the opposing camp who feel strongly that the NY Safe Act will do neither, I disagree strongly and believe that any attempt to take guns out of the hands of the unlicensed or, the mentally unsound is a good idea; especially those guns that possess semi assault weapon capability with high capacity clips.

Once again MCM You've got it wrong, You don't need a license to own a gun, Just a pistol, and there not "CLIPS" there magazines, and lastly my .22 Remington model which I have owned since 15 cannot be loaded to it's full capacity because of the SAFEACT.........Let's get it right.

Mike and the democrats have already taken gun rights away with the ludicrous safe act. And obviously it has done nothing to reduce gun violence. Instead it makes all gun owners more vulnerable to criminals with guns. And this is just the beginning as the democrat party leaders have all proposed taking even more gun rights away.

The mentally unsound shouldn't simply be denied guns. They should be denied anything that could kill people. That includes access to the subway where they can and have pushed victims onto the tracks.

The best way to identify them is to look at voter registration. They are all registered democrat or working family.

Well it is easy for you to say that someone with a mental problem should have all their rights taken away if you don't know someone. Remember you can be labeled by a doctor as having a mental problem for just having depression. Or if you admit you drink twice a week. Or if you have dreams that bother you. Or if you have night terrors. Many more. Anyone could end out with a folder full of very light problems that would take their right to own a gun and or a car away. I have a relative with a bad mental problem. We have to keep an uneasy eye on him at all times. WE TOOK HIS RIGHT AWAY TO OWN GUNS! It was the only option left when he started indicating he might have to protect the house with them from the government hit squads that were coming at night to gas him. It is very sad to see a man who worked real hard his whole life ending out a prisoner in his own house. He is highly medicated and feels afraid to go any where. The meds work but take a lot of the man's personality away. I never want to end out that way but have to worry about it. What he has is for sure something a close family member can pass down. It is no fun to see this stuff on your door step. So remember you can laugh and say let's take away the rights of a sick person, it might not be that far away from you.
