Budget begins to take shape - Times Union

Governor Cuomo apparently will bring the state budget in on time with budget bills to be printed up this weekend for action next week, prior to the Easter/Passover break.
The $136.5B spending plan has carried little controversy with most discussions centered on minimum wage.
An issue that's dropped off the radar the past two years is WIGS, or wine in grocery stores. I thought that was a sure thing, but the little liquor stores seem to be holding off the Wegmans of the world...at least for now.

It is not even close to only being a $136.5B spending plan. Just as California doesn't fund their pensions and is severely in the red, now Cuomo wants to raid our pensions with a back door borrowing gimmicky raid.

You might think its hard to believe that NY's pension fund is the most solvent. But the truth is the bar is not set very high. Most government pensions have no fund at all and are simply IOU's borrowed by Danny and Mikey and promised to be paid back by our kids.

But New York is one of the few government pensions that actually has a fund and mandates it be set aside in the constitution. Up until this latest budget proposal they actually used realistic projections.

Until now. Now, Cuomo wants to raid it and the assembly has already endorsed him on that.

Will Ritchie and company allow this fiscal child abuse to take place? In exchange for a few prions jobs...I wouldn't bet either way.

“Clock’s running on Minimum Wage Hike”

Tick-tock, tick tock, I used to have a home,
Tick-tock, tick tock, I used to have a family,
Tick-tock, tick tock, I used to have a wife,
Tick-tock, tick tock, and the children handy,
Tick-tock, tick tock, I used to have a decent job,
Tick-tock, tick tock, but now I work for minimum wage,
Tick-tock, tick tock, and I live at Grannies.

What color smoke will Cuomo use to announce the budget?

The democrats want minimum wage hikes and the Republicans want tax breaks for more well to do people... Is this really what our government is about the rich and well of opposed to the poorer less fortunate.. Ritchie is one of the Republcans trying to get the tax breaks for the more fortunate and I think its absolutely shallow of her...
