With President last night calling for a $9.00 national minimum wage, the clamor for an $8.75 state minimum may become a parlor game.
Nonetheless, official Albany is calling the hike the top priority for 2013. Why you ask ?
Because it's a way to give something away without appropriating taxpayer dollars.
That's a way to protect the rich from higher taxes and still redistribute money to the little people.

What about the people that won't get hired because employers won't be able to afford them? Minimum wage is for beginning workers and should be a swift kick in the butt to get themselves some education so they earn more than minimum wage! The President mentioned in the speech last night about families with 2 earners making minimum wage.......well, they shouldn't be a family yet if you can't earn a living!
11:50 you are old school. Today the point is to set the minimum wage just below the value of the goods and services you get for free for doing nothing but slacking and toking every day for "medicinal" purposes.

a commitment by NYS to match President Obama's attempt to pass a raise in the 'Minimum Wage to 9.00 an hour and link it to the cost of living shows once again why NYS is a beacon of light to the rest of the Country. Speaker Silver just introduced the legislation. It is a firm stance by the Governor and the Assembly to ensure no full-time worker in NYS or America has to live in poverty. A worker must be paid a reasonable rate for their labor. Governor Cuomo and Speaker Silver now have to convince Dean Skelos that half measures will avail us nothing, and we need to make the raise in the minimum wage law ASAP.

Travel the country, talk with anyone, say the words "New York" and connect them with anything, ANYTHING. They will laugh, sputter, cough, snort, puke, and look at you like you are some sort of freakin idiot. Go ahead. Try it. You don't have to mention Sheldon OR Mikey.
