WHS English Teacher Suspended After Charge of Providing Devil's Brew at New Year's Party

I'd want to know  a lot more about this case as those who work with WHS English teacher Kate Harrienger speak highly of her.
Maybe there was something wrong, but I know how easily circumstances like this are shaped. How old were the "children".  How much did they ingest ? What were the circumstances of "allowing" them access. Who did the complaining ?
Of course, Ms. Harrienger is now a teacher with a headline of "unlawfully dealing with a child".   Not a good place to be.
I'll reserve judgment on this one.

You reserve judgment? WTF?

Why don't you work to change the law that would allow teachers or others to to this regardless of the age of the "kids" ... it sure would help your bottom line, wouldn't it?

Dan, using the phrase WTF. What's that stand for ?

Yeah, like a cop with a beer in his car, its just a one time thing, right?
NOT!
Kids have been telling stories about drinking at this persons house for years. My bet is that where there is rumors of smoke there was fire. I guess that would make any teacher popular with the kids.

Dannie's only formal education is as a teacher. He takes this stuff personally. Rather than focus on the behaviour of the person involved, and trying to determine the facts in the case, Dannie goes nuts and throws a fit. This is normal. If a teacher was doing third graders on Sat night in a bar Dan would probably throw a fit, just like this. No questioning is allowed of the education establishment. Not in Dannie's world.

Most reasonable people recognize that this is a very unusual event. We should think about it, get the facts, and go from there. Now, if we could get the Dannie types to use this pattern of thought about guns look how far ahead we would all be. But it ain't gonna happen. The Dannie types want to go hysterical about some kinds of things, not others. It depends on the politics.

Dans right on this one mayor.. It dosnt matter how old the kids were or how much they injested or circumstances were... The law is the circumstances that have to be followed.. You seem to advocate the lowering of the legal age and I cant say I disagree but until then HANG THEM HIGH... Same as marj. if caught with it suffer the consequesnces until its legal...

Huh? Do your knuckles ever get sore from dragging them on the ground all day?

Have to agree with the Mayor on this one and OBTW, what ever happened to innocent until PROVEN guilty? once again the "liberal minded" show themselves to be the most closed minded, narrow individuals around.....

Innocent until PROVEN guilty is for criminal court. Circumstantial evidence and hearsay is all I need to fire an employee. Unless they are in a teachers union.

It's not 1983 anymore. Underage drinking is taken very seriously now.

How about no one judges and we let the system take care of it?? We all have made mistakes, I would hate to see them debated on a local blog.

This whole incident probably wouldn't have been a (known)issue unless there was something more salacious that hasn't been reported yet, such as an incident of alcohol poisoning that may have occured at one of these types of parties. Perhaps the whole story hasn't come out yet.

This is no surprise to people who know this crew. Long time coming.

This is a teacher, 9:18, that's the difference, if true. Doesn't matter their ages, mayor, if they were under 21 it's illegal. You don't like that, work to change the law instead of constantly complaining about it. We don't get to pick and choose the laws we will comply with.

Home schooling looks better each day. Unless the schooler is a boozer!

Not sure your point, 10:48. Usually your responses have no point, and this appears to be no deviation from your norm. What is suggested is we get the facts and reason. That should be procedure for all problems. You need to quit trying so hard, or at the very least, come up with a new procedure of your own. Weak. Stamp your feet. Leave a puddle. Get mad.
