WDT: Former Gouverneur mayor’s indictment dismissed amid prosecution ‘mishandling’

To what county office do you go to get your reputation back ?
A prosecutor in the St. Lawrence County DA's office has been found to have mishandled and misled grand jurors last year in getting an indictment that led to the push-him-out-the-door resignation of controversial Gouvereur Mayor Chris Miller.
That mayor had been a disappointment to some and his own prior record was given little scrutiny by voters before his surprise election.
Insiders wanted him out, and now the Mayor is former trustee Ron McDougall, the husband of former mayor and now high ranking state official Diedre Scozzafava.
It's widely thought grand juries are just a rubber stamp for the DA, but in this case, someone challenged the system and won a victory of sorts.

Where is the justice for the couple he "sold" the house to? Just because SLC screwed up yet another prosecution, does not mean that Miller isn't as guilty as the day is long.

I would think the last thing on his mind would be his reputation. Throwing a case out over venue and hearsay? He better hope they don't prosecute him in both venues now.

Regardless of what happens this year St Lawrence County must elect a new District Attorney. N.Duve is the weakest DA in the history of the big county and her saga continues.
Too much politics involved .. The Republican legislators have been giving her fits since election and the Democrats wont see that she is staffed properly even when they have the power.
Jerry Richards as Da took on Gary Miles as his first assistant with likely the probablility he would get the Democrat nod to run when Richards moved on.. That didnt happen.. Politics and June Oneil interfered with the process and Miles was forced to run as a Republican.. a democrat running as a Republican dosnt work..
She come out fighting at first and did a stalwart job but since the second Oxley trial shes had her mind eleswhere.. Shes undoubtly looking for a judges position which I doubt is coming up in the near future..
This year the Republicans have been giving her a lot of publicity all bad I might add but they dont have a viable canidate to date.. Mary Rain would be my bet..
I oculd see possibly Marsha Lamay running on the Democrat ticket.. She lost to Wm Small for city court judge and was overlooked by mayor Nelson for partime judge as he gaveit to an old crony who had suffered santions for the Bar Association...
Too many politics in these judgeships and DAs jobs...

St. Lawrence has a long history of things like this, Like all the cases referred to their office from Jefferson County........Maybe Lewis County is the way to go, Merrill isnt there.

2:26 better check your history. Miles was afraid of a Democratic primary and pulled out. Thought he would be safe to win running as a Republican. Guess that didn't work out so well did it.

Your right 657.. He refused to run as a donkey in a primary against Duve. He chose to run as a Republican against Duve.. Either way he lost. My point was politics.. Politics in this manner only ends up biting u in the ass dosnt it?
Miles was a much better attorney than Duve. Remember Duves first two years Richards babysat her and basically covered her ass for which he had a retrial in a murder case for.. Eventually the killer got off in a third trial due to Duves ineptness...

Justicia is not just blind on both eyes, but also a joke.
An Insult to the people who bought that house, as well as to the people of SLC.

Its unbelievable with what people get away with or are we in Chicago?

Double jeopardy does not apply to grand jury. The DA can still watch some Matlock episodes and figure out how to behave so that he can get this guy to trial.

Dannie, make the jokies all you want, but as I remember, you were one of the Duve leg drippers. She was a she, which in and of itself gets you all excited. And she was a Democrat, which we all know is all that matters. Don't make a joke out of what you wanted in the first place.

Anonymous 1:37 - have no idea what you are spewing - where do you get your info ... I don't even know and have never met the woman or know much about the issue except from the press.

You are truly pathetic ... posting your lies and garbage and hoping it passes as fact. It does not.

Peck vs Miller for county legislator. May the best crook, I mean man win. St lawrence county needs the expertise.

She was a woman, and a Donkey. That, to you Dannie, made her the best candidate who ever breathed. This is what happens when your only criteria involves gender and party. That's a fact, my Dear Dannie.

We certainly wouldn't want a war on women here in the north country. And we all know how you feel about Republicans. They are all racist. So, we had to have her. Enjoy.
