Sheriff Issues Ticket To Deputy Following December Incident | WWNY TV 7

Appropriate action ? As long as it was just an open container of alcohol and he wasn't drinking it in a county police vehicle....Maybe the officer was showing the K-9 what one looked and smelled like.
The other conclusion is that it was a case of drinking on duty, in which case I know what would happen to an employee of mine, since the personnel policy clearly prohibits it.  These days there are too many means to snitch you out...You are better off just adhering to the policy until off duty.

I thought the press release stated it WAS a department vehicle? At least the little piggy didn't cry D-WI all the way home.

This was not an easy action for the Sheriff to take. Give him credit. It would have been easy to not take the action he did. He is proving that he is up to the job. There have been problems of late. But he has been taking care of things and upholding the reputation of the Dept.

Give him credit for what? Doing his job somewhat honestly? The cops never check if the charges will stick when they charge anyone else with a crime. Sounds like the circumstances should have warranted a DWI charge. If he doesn't get convicted it doesn't matter.

The worst part is that it never should have gotten to this point. Just like the other bad cops that are pulling over people without cause, he is not nipping the problems in the bud. Or are we to believe this is a one time isolated incident?

Have you ever noticed it's always been that way in the Sheriff's Dept. from the late 60's all the way now, Hey remember the woman killed on Wellsley Island, and the poor excuse for an investigation??

Looks like problem after problem; seems like no-one is leading by example, or are they? What really happened to the previous undersheriff? Maybe, Mr. Ruggerio was onto something, that made some in the department, to get nervous.

Its a cover up, plain and simple and no one seems to care.

Hey 5:04: The Wellsley Island case was the State Police not the Sheriff's Department.

I don't agree with you guys. I do not believe there was any coverup. If there were, you wouldn't have heard about this incident. My views on the integrity of the Sheriff is based on knowing him. I believe he's a good man doing a good job. And I'm certainly not a Donkey lover. In cases like this, we can't know the inside details of what went on. We have to have faith in the man running the show and the people he has placed in positions of authority. I believe in him and the people he has chosen.

9:54 PM ; Not sure what this donkey lover stuff is all about. Maybe alcohol/carousing, are problems, that no-one wants to talk about.I will stick by what I said in a previous post. What kind of example are we leading by?
