Putnam County Clerk Tells Newspaper to Go #%@& Themselves

The newspaper that printed the names of gun permit owners in Westchester and Rockland Counties has gotten the cold shoulder from neighboring Putnam County where the county clerk told the paper to take a hike.
The publishing of the permit roster has drawn fire from gun owners concerned over their privacy.
Maybe our NNY media could do something less controversial like publishing the list of drivers with motorcycle endorsements or just who is a notary public.
Then I could get all upset....

The newspaper genius is Janet Hasson, a liberal party line Donkey whose has no capability of thought on this and many issues. Sound familiar? Publishing the names of people who are exercising their constitutional rights should come as no ground breaking surprise. Remember when Hitler made the Jews paint Stars of David on their homes. All they were doing was exercising their right to worship. Different times, different enemies, different crusades. But the same types of people think its just fine. Just like crippling taxes and loss of freedom. It don't really matter if it doesn't apply to them.

Good that the county clerk had the nerv to tell them to go .... and took privacy laws serious.

Thatjust shows how hypocrites these newspaper morons are.

They print the adress of lawfull gun owners and get unarmed houseowners in danger, now that Criminals know, where they live.
And then cry wolf and employ armed security guards for their own prodection.

Another hypocrite is Obama, who brags that his teenage daughter is protected by armed guards.
He also send his daughters to a private school with 11 armed guards and this school wants to hire another guard.
This on top of the security secrete service detail for his daughters.

Yeah for them. Just because it's "public information" doesn't mean it should be published. Left wingers continue to amaze with their complete lack of common sense. Putnam (Carmel) is also home to our ex-king George who I would be willing to bet is on the permit list.

Hey let's list MCM address?

The real list that could potentially save lives is a published list of everyone diagnosed or treated for schizophrenia. But of course that is personal medical information that is constitutionally guaranteed to be private.

I believe the Fourth Amendment would apply to the pistol permit holders names being published, but how many of our politicians pay any attention to Constitutional restrictions anymore? Or a good share of the Judges, for that matter.

"N.Y. officials, newspaper duel over gun data

Cathy Lynn Grossman, USA TODAY and John Ferro, Poughkeepsie (N.Y.) Journal7:23p.m. EST
January 3, 2013"

New York law on firearms licensing is "crystal clear and has been on the books for years," said Robert Freeman, executive director of the state's Committee on Open Government, on Thursday.
The law specifies that "the name and address of any person to whom an application for any license has been granted shall be a public record." Hence, Putnam County is legally required to comply with The Journal News' request, Freeman said.

To me a more important point is this data is not necessary ot PUBLISH to be valuable to the interest of society, in order to achieve sensible 'Gun Control' objectives. It's a non issue; the value of the data is that it can be matched to other data bases, i. e. criminal, etc..

A know felon or a new felon, or someone that has shown mental instability and is a danger to themselves and others if they own or go out a buy a gun can be red flagged. The prevention value is the fact that the data can be crossed referenced to other data bases and guns can be confiscated when people who shouldn't have them are in possession of a gun. Nothing has to be published to accomplish this in the first place. We are all trying to make things safer in America, we don't need distractions, and we need good and effective policy that helps us prevent the slaughtering of innocents.

Once again MCM is confused a "Known Felon" cannot own guns, cannot even posess them. Dont forget the meeting MCM with Mr. Bonner.

He can when he lies on his gun permit application simpleton, like some 77,000 people have been recorde as doing last year; with under a 1000 prosecutions for doing so and a data base will take care of that - get it.

Hey MCM why dont you march down and make a FOIL about the CCW owners in the county, There's nothing to prevent people from lying about anything, How do we know it's 77,000 you could be lying and where it occur? In the State, the Nation, The world? How much money was spent By NYS on the micro-stamping machine to identify bullets and how many convictions did it net???? Once and no convictions. Whose Simpleton? Make the meeting and bring the petition.

NYS doesn't micro stamp ammo--they may pass legislation soon to do so, but Skelos is fighting it. MCM
