Gun Law Has Provisions Ensuring Passage

Ensuring passage of anything means giving a little something to everyone...
The new gun control law would reportedly codify "Mark's Law" and allow pistol permit holders to opt out of having their names subject to a freedom of information request.
The upping of penalties for killing a first responder clearly explains by this issue came up recently in NNY where Senator Patty Ritchie had argued for such a measure and her potential future rival, Addie Russell, suddenly introduced the same thing in the Assembly.
The FOIL provision was also in the Russell proposal. She must have known something.
Passage is expected quickly and may have happened already for all I know. Opponents say its mostly window dressing, but its central points include a reduction to seven rounds the number of bullets in a magazine.

I think the AG should take the paper to court make them pay a settlement to all the gun owners whose house was broken into after the reckless publishing of the data.

Except Addie never actually submitted her bill. And the language in the final package is identical to Ritchie's bill.

ATTENTION CRIMINALS:

It is now illegal in New York to possess anything larger than a seven-round clip for your firearms(s).

Anything larger and you'd be breaking the law.

Hey MAX:
“Tonight, the Senators that voted for the NY SAFE Act of 2013 made a bold statement, coming together in a bipartisan, collaborative manner to meet the challenges that face our state and our nation, as we have seen far too many senseless acts of gun violence,” Cuomo said in a statement. “I commend Senator Skelos, Senator Klein, and Senator Stewart-Cousins for their hard work on this important legislation.”

Gov. Cuomo got this one right, and guys like you will adjust to the new legislation and be just fine, able to hunt the same as before. The rest of us will be glad that NYS and America is now ready to change and stop the madness of Assault weapons terror no thanks to the NRA. We all won Max!

Do you really think that these laws will make New Yorkers safe? Not a chance. I predict minimal or no change in gun crimes - unless you count the 100s of thousands that Cuomo just made lawbreakers.

The criminals win again. The land crabs emerged at night again to vote with NO public imput. History repeating itself, giving rise to tyranny.

Addies bill was a little more complex than Ritchies basicly because she understands the law much better than Ritchie and she works for the people in general where Ritchie tends to work for groups usually the prison bunch or rich constituants only..

Or is it the time to sit by the river and eat our government cheese?

Dear MCM,
Who said anything about hunting? I gotta tell you though...
I FINALLY got a good nights sleep knowing that the CRIMINALS are gonna have to re-load after firing seven rounds at their next shooting. In that 1.2 seconds that it takes to switch-out clips, I'm gonna rush 'em, disarm 'em, and be a national HERO!

Unless, of course, there's more than one shooter.

Addie Russell vs. Patti Ritchie? Good Bye and Good Riddance Patti! She has done NOTHING for St. Lawrence County. Her obstructionist agenda follows only that of the extreme right wing of the Republican party.

Nothing 6:58 but it is a real treat to watch her air time on television, every chance she gets. Very very short list of accomplishments for sure.

That's the best joke of the week. When the criminal, who is attacking Mikey, has to stop to reload, Mikey is going to RUSH him and GET him.

Hahahahaha

First off, why would any criminal attack you? You don't work. You have no money. I don't view you as possible victim of sexual assault, but, as you say, the world has changed. And Mikey, remember this. Many people practice (usually law abiding people)and can reload almost as fast as they can shoot with a big magazine. So your new law is BS. Sleep lightly. You've accomplished nothing. Except to limit the rights of law abiding people.
