WDT: Feds Ease Bread Restrictions in Schools

The nanny state has relaxed for now some of the school lunch restrictions that had the educational community in turmoil and a candidate for Congress eating lunch in a local school to draw attention to the lack of chicken nuggets and submarine sandwiches on the menu.
Calorie restrictions stay in place and its likely the loosening of content restrictions will do little to ease the fine whine coming from the schools.

Nanny implies there is some level of care exercised in the rules. What we have here is a tyra-nanny state.

Owens has a press release telling us he is oh so happy and thankful our massa loosened the chains that bind us. What a jerk. Why not cut the chains entirely?

Baffleing that the NYS bigtops think that the reason for childhood obesity is school lunches. Get your head out of your butt and look around you. When was the last time you saw a street hockey game...a pick-up baseball game on the empty lot down the street...kids riding bikes hell bent for leather just for the thrill of it. It just does not happen any more. Video games (with voluminous snacks) have replaced activity in the youngsters lives. Excersize is missing at all levels. Adults have to make themselves excersize...and they should do the same with kids. How about a gym membership as a Christmas present for your teenager? Would that be appreciated...or left in the drawer like a pair of argyle socks? I don't have the answer, but it certainly is not serving teen agers two chicken bits at school lunch. Unquestionably one of the most inane, stupid things our state has done...ranks right up there with Bloomie telling city folks that they can't have a Big Gulp. What to hell are they thinking?

It is the parents right and responsibility to feed their children. No government should mandate what they eat, especially two apples in a kid's lunch. The school lunches are being thrown away every day, except, maybe, for the fat kids who 'rescue' the plate of goodies and get even fatter! Right Handed left Winger is correct to note that they did not get fat in school.

Its good that Moochelle has given permission for the kids to eat again. Praise be to the Queen.
