WATCH: 'Call me crazy,' NRA says the public wants armed guards in schools - NYPOST.com

As the NRA reitterates its view that school security trumps restrictions on gun sales as a means to curb future Sandy Hooks,  the public seems less impressed.
People I talk to who aren't anti-gun warriors are simply asking why the NRA is so strident....They are strident because that is their role in this drama, but its a risky strategy as many clearly want something done.
I don't know what happens next, but it is clear from bar chatter that the Newtown killings had an effect on opinions far beyond what other shooting incidents had.

Wayne and the gang have proven they have NO intention of joining in on any type of serious dialogue on gun policy in this country. They have been marginalized and shown to be irrelevant along with Party of Abject Stupidity (formally know as the Republican Party).

I have no doubt that we WILL have a new, sane gun policy in this country as a result of Newtown.

The emperor has no clothes...the NRA a is a PAPER TIGER!

As a proud card carrying member of the NRA and a staunch conservative, I have a few sensible suggestions:

1) Build schools inside military bases and have the national guard pat down and scan everyone (including children) before they enter school for the day.

2) Maintain armed guards at every entrance complete with command center.

3) Maintain machine gun nests on the roof of each school.

4) Electrify the fence topped with barb wire surrounding the school and lock down the entire campus until school is out.

5) Parents must pick up their children outside the gate, only after they have put on their Kevlar backpacks and protective helmets for the trip from their classrooms to the front of the base to a waiting armed transport vehicle.

There, easy peasy -- problem solved and a win/win for everybody.

People you talk to? Ha!
People Mikey talks to tell him the same thing.
Not a scientific poll.

Obama can try to circumvent the Constitution and unilaterally pass a law but that might be harder than his normal way of usurping congress by simply not enforcing laws.

You keep telling us we're all outraged by the NRA's response and we might start believing you...not likely though.

You say that, but polling says otherwise.

I’m trying to understand this. A good guy will know the bad guy with the gun before the bad guy shows the gun to the good guy with the gun, so that the good guy can shoot the bad guy, right?

8:46, you're a dumbass. What solution do you suggest? The same ol' rehashed regurgitated outlaw everything solution you idiots have pushed for decades? In a free society we will always have crazies who will kill people. What are you going to do when the next fool commandeers a propane truck? There are other suggestions that could be made that no doubt law enforcement has thought about as well. But dolts like you think gun only, like it will solve all evil. The Norway killing took place in a nation with extremely tight gun laws. They lost over three times as many innocents as we lost in CT. Are you so friggin blind and stupid you can't see anything but your own fears? This country has raised a flock of hormonally challenged freaks who have no ability to reason. Go ahead, be scared. And disconnect your brain. And the kids will not be any safer. But you will feel better. And that's what this is all about. You, and your feeeeelings.

Oops. I left out a couple of suggestion from my previous post…

6) I think we should be putting armed guards in day care facilities as well. And teach those 2-3 year-olds to shoot… you know, just in case. Nothing says 'best country in the history of the world' better than an armed toddler!

7) Oh, and drones. Not every school necessarily, that would be too costly -- maybe one per school district.

What Mr. LaPierre and the NRA envision is an entire population armed against itself -- everyone is an aggressor and everyone is a target. Everyone is safe because no one is safe.

Anonymous said...

We already have armed guards in schools. We call them recourse officers because if we didn't we would have to admit we agree with the NRA.

It all shows one thing. They need to hire better PR.

NRA is a paper tiger , Flush them now , ignore their insane rants and do the deal now .

Gun crazies be damned. Real hunters don't hide behind assault style weaponry .

Lapierre is mentally challenged and his rant is proof positive that he has lost his grip on reality.

9:10 and !!:30...Keep up the good work...You are giving us a good laugh, while making the NRA dudes look like the idiots that they are.
Well done.

Geo. Orwell would love Wayne LaPierre:

War is peace.

Freedom is slavery.

Ignorance is strength.

LaPierre is not insane - the rest of us are; we need more, not less guns and thus killings by guns.

The real problem is not the NRA. The real problem is people who decide to give their kids crap they can not handle. The killer was never able to understand what his mom gave him. He should have been locked in the nice house with a bunch of books and music to read along to. Never taken to a gun range and shown how to rapid fire bullets into people. She made the problem. She paid for what she did. BUT...So did a lot of poor kids. Hiw can you blame anyone else? The real answer is to watch for more of these people and stop them. I wouldn't take someone from a nut farm to a gun range and show them how to kill. No one should. You want to see the problem in America? Watch one show of the American wackos who prep for the end. They put machine guns into their kids hands and train them to defend the house. Believe it! There are several of these people in our country. We sit and watch them thinking it's all good entertainment.

IS IT?

I have two family members that are teachers; one teaches high school and the other grade school. And without exception, they, and all of their colleagues believe it's an asinine idea.

Insane Wayne also wants a federal "database" of all the "mentally ill" people in America. What a hoot it will be when those listed turn out to be at least half the membership of the NRA, most of the GOP and the entire Tea Party.

All The New York City press is having a field day exposing Wayne LaPierre, as the number one 'Gun' madman in America. I mean he's getting a tidal wave of criticism from every print writer in NYS; the NRA is KAPUT! MCM

Anonymous said...

Yes, the NY City press, very well known for balanced thought AND for reflecting the thoughts of the common man, is having a field day, Mikey. Arrogant, self-centered, elitist, smug, and party line all the way. Now why is it you think that's great stuff? Probably because that describes you to a T.

Hey MMM the NY Post story on the gun-buy-back program is unique, it speaks of Assault weapons then shows lever action hunting rifles, they need to get there facts straight, of course you liberals like these stories...........

Mike Flynn 'Middle Class Mike' said...

It's great stuff ANON 12:05, because the NRA and 'GUN' Madman Wayne LaPierre aren't going to stop the 'Gun Control legislation needed in this Country with nonsense talk like you spout. Never on word about improving the gun crisis in America, just NRA propaganda on how something won't stop every nut in the Country who commits an insane act from getting an 'Assault' weapon or semi-automatic, large clip gun. It will make it harder to get, and that will be an improvement period. It will help avert some of these tragedies and that's worth fighting for in this Country. What are you going to do besides spout the NRA Party line? Sorry, status quo isn't going to cut it. MCM

Anonymous said...

MMM The stuff that you spout continues to amaze, The Large capacity magazines you speak of are (NOW PAY ATTENTION) are ILLEGAL in the State of NY, so your complaint is with the other states that dont have laws that ban them. One has to wonder why the Commander and Chief doesnt ban sale of assault weapons @ Ft. Drum, where on any given day high-Capacity mags flood the streets of Watertown....................

? said...

None of you seem to get the real message here. Till you get the crazies that teach other crazies off the street, nothing nor any person is safe. It's the men and women who tell everyone that having a 50 cal to defend the house is the way to go. I agree the NRA is full of these people. Some of them run training camps for their kids to get them ready for the day that the government takes their guns. That's what has to go away. It isn't the whole group, but yes it is enough of them. Plus I am sorry, we do need to ID the people who are not stable in some way and have them in a data system so they can't purchase any thing on their own. I say don't let them have knives. If it means having to supply prints when buying gas, okay. It saved some kids. I hate to see freedoms go. But let's face it, we have many nuts in our country. Time to clean house. Training kids to push back the police from their home is wrong and should not be allowed. Training kids to hunt can be okay. As long as it's not hunting people. Same with target shooting ranges. Shooting bulls-eyes all day is cool. Shooting people in the eyes is wrong. We need re-tooling on people.

Anonymous said...

7:46 AM

By retooling, do you mean we need re-education camps? In a nation where the image of Chairman Mao graces Christmas Tree ornaments in the Whitehouse it might be possible.

Mike Flynn 'Middle Class Mike' said...

ANON 2:48PM who needs Mao when you have the NRA to propagandize the nation about guns in America? You are the main propagandist on this blog, you and the NRA never get it right. MCM

Anonymous said...

Maybe we should hold a poll as to who the main propagandist on this blog is. Only one name really sticks out. He also seems to be the one with the thinnest skin.

What's the number MMM,??

You knew just what I mean. Don't play dumb. I say the first way to a cure is to take all the messed up prep for the end of the world shows off the air. They stink of people who hope you will get worried and buy more dried foods and guns. Realize it's just another way to scare stupid people into buying crap they don't need.

Allright does anyone know has MMM worked a day in his life???
