Response Brisk as Only Three Gin Mills Plan New Year's Bashes

SO FAR, 10,000 People Have Read About New Years Eve. Tickets are in short supply for the all nighter at Fort Pearl.  Stop by and get yours today !

Three bars in Jefferson County have filed and received permission to be open all night on New Year's Eve.
They are Fort Pearl and Clueless in Watertown and Skiff's in Alexandria Bay.
Those wanting the permit must have applied by November 16 and paid a $61 fee for the permission to be open from 3 AM to 8 AM
While bars in Jefferson County close at 2AM, all bars are allowed to stay open till 3AM on New Year's. No Lewis County bars applied and in the Big County, only Maxfields in Potsdam is in for the all-nighter.
At Fort Pearl, we are selling advance sale tickets for the party for $5.  They are required for admission.
The Skiff's party should be fun. That's a nice bar and the resorts in the Bay are within walking distance.....Can't go there though, as I am working that night along with Diana and Colin Burns.....The Sheriff's son.

Why is the Mayor allowed to be open ? That's not fair.

I think it was because he applied and doesn't have a record.

6:55, the Mayor is allowed to allowed to be open because he paid a fee, it wasn't FREE $tuff.

It's a Monday night, who would want to stay out all night anyway.

Is this the line I get in to complain about business owners making the decision to spend the money for a permit to stay open all night? I don't have time for this, just point me to the line for my freestuff and tax the business owners to pay for it.

Do bars really make money around here now days? Doesn't seem like a lot of folks go out anymore.

“…just point me to the line for my freestuff and tax the business owners to pay for it.”

Here you go, “the line for freestuff”…

Will you feel any remorse if a person you have served alcohol to leaves your bar and kills an innocent person on the way home?????

The mayor's bar is a quiet neighborhood bar. Its a miracle its still open with all the slander and nonsense the mayor has endured.

Seems to me like all club owners had the chance to apply for the all nighter and if your favorite watering hole isn't one of them maybe you should talk to the owner and leave the Mayor alone. I'm sure if the Mayor had wrong doings going on at his bar then he would face closure just like anyone else. Read the police blotter and see how many times they get called to Fort Pearl, not hardly at all.

Have any of you even read the article? You're asking the stupidest clearly answered question. The mayor can have a bar because he is a citizen just like any of you can have a bar. Just because they're open all night does not mean they're more likely to kill anyone. Drinking & driving kills, not whatever time it is.

You should not be commenting on ANYTHING if you're not competent enough to read the article, understand it and then use proper grammar in you're comment. Idiots.

The Mayor applied for a permit and thats it.

Every barowner had the same possibility.

I don't understand why some people have a problem with it.

and I have to agree with 12:11 PMi

You can be killed by a drunk driver, who had some alcohol for lunch - or "Tom and Jerry". ;)

His bar is not known for brawls or fights.

I like the idea to go the bar after everything else is closed.

The last years I found that always kind of borrowing that Watertown was "dead" after 2 PM even on New Years Night.

So great Idea Mr. Mayor.

If you get a ticket do you have to stay up all night Mr.Mayor? Some of us are getting old and can't.

Since staying open all night is being permitted, we can conclude that it's not thought to be a safety issue. And staying open longer will help the employees make more money and the customers (the people) will be happier, and that's a good thing too. Can anybody think of a reason that the mayor should be regulating the operating hours of these business at all? It's not safety, it's good for employees, and the people want it.

This is proof that government is regulating things it has no business in. Let the businesses and people alone.

The reason that relative had to close their bar was because you are a fool.

In Alex Bay the all nite license includes drinking on the streets as always has been allowed. Skiffs owner/village board member Gary "critter" Williams said it all will be monitored closely. There are certain areas on the streets and sidewalks that alcohol is permitted and now until 8am! wow, that's the place to be!

Come on you don't need a special license in A BAY. You can drink anywhere, anytime !!

You just want free publicity for your bar. This is so inappropriate.

Lighten up! What's wrong with some free advertising? Everyone should stop in the Bay for the New Years block dance in front of Skiffs. Fortunately, the village has abandoned the useless open container law and allows reasonable responsible alcohol consumption within the village limits.

Hey INAPP
No, Skiffs and Ft Pearl GOT free publicity.
Thanks for being part of the success!

Saw two little boys ride their bikes down by fort pearl today and stopped to look at the slutty picture painted on the door. REALLY? cant you just have some morals and keep those images inside your door not where little children can see them? I looks awful and makes women look bad!

Why is it that certain bar owners in Alex Bay are able to have block dances and beer blasts on the village streets in front of their establishments and allow drinks from those establishments onto the village streets.
The ABC board wouldn't put up with that!!
Why does the village allow it, Don't they understand the liability with permitting the illegal use of tax payer property!!

haha 124 you are kidding right? I got my first Boehner from the sears catalog ladies lingerie section, boys will be boys, and that rant is a silly faux moralistic stance on a cartoon cutout..you really really are really reaching here..really.
