New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver proposes early voting | syracuse.com

New York's voter turnout was only 46% in a Presidential year, but that's no reason to adopt the "early voting" seen in too many other states.
People should vote at the same time and they should have to make an effort. Speaker Sheldon Silver's proposal for early voting may well pass in liberal NY where Democrats would see it as a means of getting more of their potential peeps out.
Those who want or need to vote early can go in to the BOE and cast an absentee.
There are probably improvements to the present system that would be a good thing, but currently in our area there are no lines and generally no problems.
Early voting is not a good idea.

It is a way for Middle Class Mike to vote at more districts.

Knowing how crooked and corrupt politics is on all levels, I am surprised you do not believe voter fraud is a significant factor in elections. Given the opportunity to cheat, people will cheat.

Early voting is a license to steal. It is the easiest method to create votes that do not exist and the reason some districts recorded voter turnout at over 100% of their voting age population.

One day one vote. Anything else is inviting trouble. What's next, a vote that lasts forever? "Vote one time folks, it's easy."

We have the greatest democracy on the face of the earth. Let's keep it that way by encouraging every citizen to vote. Voter fraud was virtually non-existent this year, except for that SNAFU in Florida (Karl Rove anyone?).
Not everyone has a flexible schedule, so why not have early voting? To me, the folks who do anything to impede our right to vote are not true Americans

Shelly, just keep the FreeStuff coming. That will take care of the vote. Early, late, faked, cheated, or made up.

Speaker Silver says a Mouthful"

“Our elections must be fair, open, honest and accessible, and encourage as many citizens to vote as possible.”

Mr. Speaker, I wanted to personally thank you for this bill, as far as I'm concerned there's a lot of redemption for your Speakership in this election reform bill.

Mikey, you are the most idiotic, party line, butt kissin' fool I have ever seen. If I were a friend, I'd be extremely humiliated to know you.

That's what ACORN pays Mikey to do. He has to visit blogs and spew his lies or they quit paying him. They tell him to call it "election reform" instead of "election deregulation" and that's what he does. Pretty soon it will be a "war on voters" or some silly nonsense.

ANON 11:14 you would never be allowed to be a friend of mine, I only grant that privilege to intelligent people - so in your case that wouldn't be possible.
