Marijuana's health effects: Memory problems, addiction

While marijuana is billed as a tax producer and generally benign recreational drug, experts say it does have its health impacts including dependancy, memory loss, mood changes and other things that mean there is a price for its widespread use.
With the drug now legal in one state and the trend likely to continue, its use will pose issues for employers as its use could affect performance and judgment in certain ways.
While initial laws try to encourage its use in private settings, you know darn well it will creep into public venues and users will be emboldened to light up where they please as they did at the Space Needle in Seattle two nights ago. Anyone who believes a 21 year old age will be enforceable is clearing smoking it.
It's one of those things where prohibition didn't work, but encouraging its widespread use is of dubious value too.

same dubious value as getting drunk on Pearl Street.

Marijuana prohibition didn't work. Just like speeding, DWI and murder prohibition didn't work.

If you are going to unilaterally declare prohibition of anything a failure you ought to at least tell us what rate of violation puts it over the threshold.

You forgot to mention the biggest side affect of marijuana is that it turns the users into self centered apathetic non-caring a$$holes who cannot maintain healthy relationships with their significant other or their children.

Anony 9:03. Have you ever smoked marijuana or know anyone who has? Not just one person who may also drink and do other drugs. I am talking about just a marijuana user? I doubt you have nor have you wrote research papers about it. Marijuana was grown by good ole George Washington himself. Cigs and beer are by far worse for you. You must be an old person who watched the government ran movie reefer madness.

There was something I wanted to say but I can't remember what the hell it was now.

Yes I smoked it, ate a cosmic cookie and a buffed brownie a couple times, but most of my adult life I was subject piss testing as a productive member of society (something you are not).

Of course I know burnouts...people whose drug of choice is pot. They are all pretty laid back. They don't get too intense. Especially when it comes to relationships, family, work...they could take it or leave it...mostly leave it. The only thing they get upset about is when they can't get to their dealer because they got their car repossessed or totaled.

Lol at 9:51 I smoke it daily and have a 50k job. Get over yourself. Not my fault that you wasted life not having fun in your adult life. Glad you are productive enough to answer me though thanks. By the way my kids and wife love me:) I can not wait until it becomes legal in NY. What will you see then. Go have your smokes from your job that most likely stresses you out and die while smoking your cigs. Mary Jane and I will be smiling and laughing at you:)

Marijuana users are losers. They are the only ones that think it is harmless. The rest of us just look at them in disbelief. Their minds are so messed up they don't even realize how close their behavior is to what's depicted in Reefer Madness
