Lawmakers to Discuss Woolworth's Future Monday | WWNY

The meandering fate of the Woolworth Building leaves City Council with a familiar conundrum. Do nothing and the result is certain. Do something and the same may happen but there is a chance the centerpiece building of downtown survives.
The day of reckoning for the building has been coming for some time and that's why the City's three living mayors have penned a joint letter in support of the building's latest developer and latest effort at salvation.
Council will be asked to formally affirm support for developer David Gallo's plans for an eight figure rehab financed with the help of the NYS tax credits and grants.

You could always try calling some real developers from around here and ask for their opinions. Simao, Donegan, Lundy all have track records of building things in a normal time frame.

My only concern about developing Woolworth building into apartments is parking. I would think the JB Wise lot would be the closest parking. Is there enough there to support the businesses who currently utilize it as well as apartment dwellers? Or are we assuming that the potential apartment dwellers aren't owners of vehicles?

Where do the Burdick Building people park? That place is full of tenants and just a stone's throw from the Woolworth. They seem to get by.

My concern is the way the downtown has been transformed into low-income apts.............
