Congressman: Wish Principal Had an M4 to Take His Head Off

Now here's a stupid statement by a sitting Member of Congress just a day after a school principal was killed trying to stop a crazed gunman from killing her students.
"I wish to God she had had an M4 in her office locked up and so when she heard gunshots … she takes his head off before he can hurt those kids," said Rep Louis Gohmert (R-TX)
Principal Dawn Hochsprung, 47, was among the first killed and reports suggest she tried to confront the gunman. Too many people have jumped the gun and are angling for TV face time calling for more gun control, and here's a case of the opposite view trying to counter by being insensitive and boorish.
     Didn't work.

Hindsight is always 20/20! No, she didn't need a gun. She was heroic for sure and should be celebrated and respected by everyone. The shooter was a nut case that nobody could have stopped. Now the word has all the answers. Hindsight.

Clearly, the answer is that we need more guns in this country. That’s the only thing that will work. Right?

Nothing stupid about being able to defend yourself against an armed intruder. Against a determined intruder (especially a deranged one) the only thing that is going to stop them is equal or greater force. If the principal had been able to acess a firearm of her own she may very well have been able to stop this freak before he got to the kids and at least she would have had a chance to survive. Yes hindsight is always interesting, but at least she and those kids would have had a chance to survive. As it stands now you have several adult "heros" who are still dead and so are those precious children.

The Senators way of putting it could have been stated in a better manner, of course.

Didja miss a cliche, 2:04? Well, didja?

I didn't see "extremist" anywhere.
You is well trained.

Extremist gun nuts are toally incapable of empathy ,this mother was a survivalist , a doomsday prepper , and was irresponsible to have multiple caches of automatIc weaponry in the same home as a mentally ill psychotic individual who had been displaying MULTIPLE episodes of concern during the last 12 months acording to several recent reports.

THIS is exactly why we need much stricter ,delimiting gun control inspite of what the extreme right wing thinks " THE NRA must be ignored and we as a nation must act decisively to control this NOW , no more delays .

Hey!!! Let's not get rid of automatic weapons...Let's have gun fights in our school hallways...What the hell, a little collateral damage might toughen up those elementary wimps.

If a few kids got shot up?...Well hell, they weren't smart enough to duck...You know, survival of the fittest and all that.

A Republican from Texas said that? I’m shocked!!

No one had an :Automatic weapon, they are not being produced.

You can be shocked, 11:16, but I'll just a betcha this wouldn't have happened in Texas. And whether the dickbrain offed himself or not, there wouldn't have been a need for a trial. And if there happened to be one, it would have ended with a shot in the arm. Unlike that civilized NE state where no guns are allowed. I still don't see how this could have happened. As even Mikey knows, it was a felony to bring those weapons into a school. Shame shame. We needs another law or two for sure. Idiot.

Prior to the Cuomo defunding of the School Resource Officer program the addition of high powered rifles to NYS schools was being seriously considered. Would an armed officer inside the school have helped prevent so much loss of life? I think so.

The mother did not have "automatic weaponry" in her house. To own full-auto weapons you need to have a National Firearms License. They are very expensive and very few people in this country pocess them. The last I knew the feds had stopped issuing them altogether. She may or may not have had her firearms adequatly secured in light of her sons illness. You can be sure we will never know the truth from today's U.S. media. I doubt it would have made much difference. If he wanted to get his hands on a gun and his mother's security didn't allow him access, he would have stolen one. And what about the kid who just shot his father and others with a bow and arrow? And then finished off his father and himself with a knife? I suppose more gun control would have stopped that crime, too? You are not thinking clearly people. We were doing a pretty effiecent job of comitting henious crimes a long time before firearms came on the scene. And I know I'm wasting my time by introducing ratioal thought here, so I'll sign off now so y'all can continue frothing at the mouth.

A readily available gun in that school may very well of deterred the shooter. Or it could have mitigated some of the carnage. And if not for the decision of the gunman to off himself, there could have been even more murders. It could have only taken one friendly gun to make a difference.

Don't confuse 11:16 and his ilk. He's excited and hysterical, a perfect Obama voter.

When the Police stop carrying guns to protect themselves against criminals I'll know that's it's safe for me to put mine away too.

No guns for the teaching staff. The younger students might be frightened of them! Issue all the staff a tazer and/or pepper spray. That would work.

7:54PM, I think you are being a little unfair here. You still have to give people like 9:14 a little bit of credit. He may not be very bright and a little behind in his emotional development, but at least he’s not a coward like the suddenly silent NRA.

7:52: Please define "assault rifle", and enlighten us on why it is important to own one.

Anonymous said...

Hey 937 anything could be considered an assault rifle, got a magazine over 10rds it could be considered one, I own a Ruger mini 14, if its outfitted with a 20 rd mag its an assault rifle, Also made in USA.

Anonymous said...

The reason Ruger Mini's were exempted from the original "assault weapons" ban was that they were made in CT. How friggin' ironic is that? They were exempted to KEEP the Democrat votes in that state from voting against the bill. Bill Ruger went public with his support of that bill, and that was the deal. They protected his gun in return for his endorsement of the law. That's how corrupt the entire thing was. And yes, 4:52, you can buy 50rd mags for Mini14's. But I'll betcha they won't be banned in any future laws introduced by anyone, including Dianne Feinstein, our current version of a BS senator. How lucky for her she already had an assault weapons bill already written when the children were killed. What a friggin babe she is.

Bill Ruger made the statement "No one needs more than 10 rounds in a gun, any gun" Then why do the police need more rounds?
