ConsumerWatch: Stores Requiring ID, Tracking To Prevent Repeated Returns « CBS San Francisco

Chronic returners of merchandise are now being tracked to reduce the amount of "renting" of merchandise...You know, buying a TV for the Super Bowl and returning it on Monday. Or buying clothing, wearing it and then returning it.
Those returning stuff are being required to have their driver's license scanned....A company monitors you and if you return too much...you go on a list of people perhaps not allowed to return anymore.

They will scan your driver license for a return? What if you don't have one? The most ridiculous point of this intrusion is that a huge noise went up when your proof of citizenship be required to VOTE!

The stores could simply put up a sign a few days before a big sporting event that states, "No returns on purchases made from today until Monday."
