Costco shoppers demand U.S. citizen-only opening hours after getting fed up with Canadians crossing border | Mail Online

What a bad idea...people seeking to restrict Canadians from shopping on the US side of the border because the lines in stores are too long....
Costco customers in Washington State reportedly want Americans only shopping hours.
The Canadians are taking advantage of a weak US dollar, but for border areas its a boom amidst an overall sluggish US economy.

Come on over...we appreciate the opportunity to do some business.

Oh please, does it get any more parochial than this? Doughnuts to dollars… if you were to ask any these people who are complaining what their preferred economic system is, the majority will tell you “capitalism or free enterprise...” (just as long as it doesn’t interfere with their buying a gallon of milk).

Maybe Costco will appease these selfish malcontents by hiring more people rather than banning Canadian shoppers at “certain times.” Just plain stupid!

WHEW...for a moment there I thought the Gov'ment was gonna make it illegal or something for undocumented Mexicans to shop at Costco.

*Irony alert*
The guy that used the word "parochial", somehow knows the prevailing economic political views of those calling for a canuck free Costco experience.

11:45 what in the hell is an undocumented Mexican? Does your terminology apply to all crimes? Was the Colorado mass murderer an undocumented end of life councilor?
The proper term is "illegal alien".

The statement… “Oh please, does it get any more parochial than this?” and its application is not necessarily intended to be a categorical fact but rather a somewhat humble opinion and observation.

There may be an instance in which a statement is entirely false, and these statements are in fact quite broad and more than likely susceptible to being proven illogical.

This isn’t one of those.

Can 'ya dig it? I knew you would.

What makes the statement ironic is not simply that the statement is unlikely to be true but also the similarity in behavior between the group you ridicule and the way you ridicule them.

Can 'ya dig it? I dinnit thinc so.

Geez 8:40 am, over thinking much? I tend to agree with 1:29. I think the average Joe will tell you he’s all for free enterprise. So, to complain about something so frivolous is hypercritical and dumb.

Actually my statement is more likely to be ‘true’ than not when you consider that 70% of Americans subscribe to the “free enterprise” system.

With respect to your charge that I “ridiculed them.” I think it goes without saying… the narrow minded and selfishly motivated views and behavior of the ‘people’ in question is patently absurd and ridiculous. Ridiculous behavior is subject to ridicule.

But more importantly, the true irony here is not my pointing out the obvious, but rather your apparent inability to grasp a simple concept such as a ‘figure of speech’ coupled with sarcasm, and your dismal failure at applying the same standard of observation to yourself that you erroneously measure others by.

Incidentally, I may have overestimated your level of comprehension. Being the fair minded and non-judgmental person that I am, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt... my mistake.

Dig that…

Your mistake indeed 12:36

As long as you are going to paint this group of protectionist Costco shoppers, using polls of the general population, you might as well point out that these shoppers likely voted for Obama, using your same statistical silliness.

And Obama has indicated he would like to renegotiate NAFTA, so you can see he is like minded but prefers a different way of enacting his wishes. What a narrow minded and selfish president to want such a thing for the provinces. Provincial and moreeyeronic as you.
