WDT: The Usual Suspects Want More Laws as War on Drugs Faces Another Setback

There has been so much said about the latest chemically induced highs from substances called "bath salts" and "window cleaner" that there surely will be new laws from Albany.
The drumbeat is starting, and I wish folks wouldn't indulge in substances that are potentially so dangerous.
Having lived through the whack-a-mole war on drugs, it is easy to be skeptical about the prospects for halting the seemingly endless desire to escape reality.
Watertown Daily Times | Local health, police officials concerned about rising ‘bath salts’ use

Laws should be limited but there are few laws with better payback than drug laws. Nothing wrong with outlawing bath salts and window cleaner.

5:42,

Understand your feelings on the matter, but that's a poor anaolgy. Murder is something done by someone to someone else. An individual or group of them deprive another human being of the right to live without reason.

The choice to use drugs is a one person choice. You choose to screw yourself up. You are not forced to do so by somebody else.

The war on drugs has been no more effective than prohibition was. Legalize drugs, tax the s@#! out of them and have at. Sterilization wouldn't be a bad idea for all drug users, though. Chlorine for the gene pool and all that, you know.

Point taken 9:41, but in our society we all pay for drug users. We pay for thier welfar and we pay for thier kids acxting up on the school bus. Legalize your dugs on an island. admision can be had by no one with minor children and might as well make sure they get sterilized first.

How about this analogy...we lost the war on tax cheats so we should make cheating on your taxes okay? That's closer to drug users, as there is no crime victim, save for what the one sided relationship the offender has with the government.

The bath salt fun destroys the kidneys. Get ready for a run on our dialysis centers. That will be fun to pay for. I'm glad for ObumbaCare. At least it will all be free. And the great part is most all the bath salt users are Obama voters. How funny is that?
