WDT: A Lot of People Own a Piece of Our Congressman

When you read the overview story about how much a candidate raises, its just a big number.  It's interesting to look at the itemized contributors for Rep. Bill Owens.
There's the usual unions, medical trade associations from anethesiogists right on throught the alphabet....there are corporations and three separate PACs representing the sugar industry.
Five grand from NARAL, a little from Mike Schell and June O'Neill......Wal-Mart and the Egg Association have a piece of the Owens campaign.
Yippee...the National Beer Wholesalers are in for 5K...and even Bea Schermerhorn (remember the commercials) chipped in $250.
My radio bosses gave and so did the picture frame lady who hosted a Patty Ritchie soire. Alex Bay developer Pat Donegan was on the Owens list as were firefighters and some group advocating rural electrification (I thought we had that already).
Insurance and finance people are in...so is the National Thoroughbred Racing crowd.  There's letter carriers, bricklayers and communication workers.....
       I didn't see Ted Ford....but he's there is spirit, I am sure.
We will look over the Doheny filing when it's available..
The interesting thing will be how many of the same people are on both filings...Those are the real players.

You finally got off the wedding beat and are on to what politics is all about. MONEY !

Dan Francis said...

A lot of "outside (actually insider)" money - has always been the root of the issue ...
Mr. Doheny has a ton from outside the district, NYS, and from sources all over the country.

However, there no reason for shock here or all huffiness here - unless anyone is prepared to tell me that John McHugh didn't follow the same pattern (except he usually had the Union/Labor backing) from 1993-2008?

FYI: OpenSecrets.org and/or FEC.gov are two great sites to dig deeper.

It is the money and we, the so-called public in this matter, have little, if any, input up against the giants ...

I was able to say hello to Mike Schell at the Cape Vincent French Festival today. He and his wife looked great. It was very nice to see them both.

Later on, in the boat, I saw Mr Doheny, skillfully operating a working man's boat, an older but solid Grady White. The man seemed to be having a great day. He had time to shout some good will and offer a thumbs up.

Sometimes its nice not to worry about politics and just realize that good people are good people.

Danny, who are you trying to kid? You are not "the people" you are "the giants". Your tax free pension is proof of that. Any normal person would pay taxes on their pension if it was earned in a normal way.

Hell, you guys are such a giant that you got your freestuff written right into he state constitution!

Anon 11:10 Memo to you. Why do you persist in claiming to know me and now you know about my tax returns and filing?

Memo for Graham: Please pull this guy when he posts here.

Their personal insults (and it is probably the same person) are not only insane, but now bordering on the illegal. It is more than
"just their free speech" when they claim to know about my taxes and returns. This person is very troubled and they are more than a just an a-hole passing as a writer of enlightened opinion.

You're missing most of it, 11:10. Free health care for life, so Dannie doesn't have to worry about abominations like ObamaCare. Even his family gets it. Property tax relief because of his service in the motor pool. Tax free this and that forever. The man has no worries.

Well regardless of who is who It's a fact that Federal Pensions arent taxed by NYS, And a State Pension is not taxed by NYS either.

3:42 those are the facts that I know or believe to know are true. I never claimned to know any details of Danny's tax return.
I did, perhaps wrongly, assumed Danny receives a federal pension, and as such it would not be subject to NYS taxes. Danny if you don't get a federal pension then I apologize. If you do get a federal pension then you are deliberately trying to mislead us. Feel free to tell us which one of the above is the case. Are you a liar or do you receive no pension free of NYS income taxes?

Dannie, don't go nuts all the time. You have many fans here on the blog. It isn't one or even ten people who respect you here. You've earned your reputation primarily for two reasons. Everything to you is partisan, so all you care about is Democrat this and Democrat that. The other reason is you are very selective with your facts. In other words, you lie all the time. These are great traits that ensure your large and growing fan club.

Now Dan has gone from obscene responses to threatening legal action. Very cool. I like the legal threat stuff better. And being a Donkey, you know there's a lawyer that will take the job.

Hey 10:29pm, that’s not fair --- heaping all that praise and admiration on Dan for being a partisan Democrat. I’ll have you know, that as a conservative Republican who posts regularly on this blog, I am also very selective with the bull *snip*… um, I mean facts that I post here.

Granted, unlike Dan, I am an anonymous partisan coward that doesn’t provide well researched and verifiable sources and information to substantiate my bias opinions, but I don’t need to because my sources are always ‘fair and balanced.’

Besides, whenever I feel threatened with the specifics, and I am unable to provide an intelligent argument for my position, I just assail the person’s character instead with the same ol’ tired ad homonym attacks.

So how about a little equal credit and appreciation for lying Republican partisan a** holes like us...

We need a fan club too.

Don't worry 1:00 there will be plenty of time to talk about you. But right now we are talking about the "giants" that Danny brought up...which he is one of.

He is always talking about people paying their fair share. Yet he and his giant lobby have rigged it so he pays zero NYS income tax on his pension*. The Koch brothers have nothing on him.

*The author has no knowledge of Danny's income tax filings. The author does know that military pensions are not taxed in NYS and believes Danny receives a military pension.

Dan Francis said...

I didn't threaten any legal action, but stated that if a certain Anon knew my tax returns w/o my permission, that would be illegal..

For the other (or same Anon A-hole): Free health care for life, so Dannie doesn't have to worry about abominations like ObamaCare. Even his family gets it. Property tax relief because of his service in the motor pool. Tax free this and that forever. The man has no worries.

My health care is not free - military folks and retirees like me pay for that care via Tricare ... but FYI: I did kinda of earn it for my 20 plus years of active duty, too.

Property tax relief for being a combat Vet - damn, change the law, then, but get off my back, asshole, I didn't write the law... but if I did, I would extend it for combat Vets.

Motor Pool service: give me a break - your humor is weak. I was infantry for over 10 years and then in the Intel field (interrogator for 10 years). Get a grip man and please, stop acting like you know me ... you do not.

You are a fake, phony, fraud and as I said an asshole.

Ho hum, now he's off the legal threats and back to the profanity. I really did enjoy the threats better. You'd think, with all them education type degrees, he could come up with something new. Using "asshole" more than once in a posting shows no creativity.

Guys, I don't mean to be insulting, but when you all go back and forth battling one on one with each other on these blogs, most of the readers stop reading. You can battle each other for public righteousness all you want, but the audience gets smaller and smaller with each post.

I fully respect what you are saying, 1:36. But I ask you to realize one thing. Since Dannie has referred to all Republicans as racists, most of us have on single goal in mind. That is to expose Mr Francis for what he is. The fact that fewer and fewer read his posts suggests that the effort has been successful. Whenever he talks, many of us are dedicated towards exposing the ignorance. If and when he apoligizes for calling Republicans racists, the score will be settled. Otherwise, I consider it a calling. As the Blewwws Bros used to say, we are on a Mission From God.

snip, wink, scurry on, and all the appropriate motor pool cliches..

Dan Francis said...

I have never called any Republican a racist, never.

FYI: My Mother was a Republican all her life. My Dad was the labor-miner/small farmer DEM.
