The professional educators...the ones who care so much about the children...should be ashamed at their failure to resolve the most egregious example of parochialism one could imagine.
I was the one who brought to light the dilemma kids in the Creekwood Apartment Complex will face when most of them will live in the City within spitting distance of an elementary school, but will be herded on busses and driven five miles to Glen Park because decades ago some then empty land in the Town of Pamelia was placed in the General Brown School District.
The kids are just human chattel.
The system will not yield to common sense, but the City School Board can. Students in this off situation should not be punished. Tuition should be waived and these children should be allowed to walk to nearby North Elementary School.
I wonder if all those people who carry on about Army families or any families for that matter will join in the call to do it for the children, because the six figure professionals have clearly let them down.

Why am I not surprised at this situation. Only a group with an hourly union mentality and the audacity to call themselves "professionals" would let something like this fester.
The state pays the school for every kid and for every day that kid attends. Why should schools be different from you and your city and turn down free money for the kids sakes?
Like all those rehabbed buildings converted to apartments...at a cost per unit that is higher than the cost of an upper middle class four bedroom home. The city should have turned down the grants for the future children's sake too.
Truth be told...the parents would probably pay more not to b e in Watertown's school district and send the little darlings to a school that actually holds students accountable.
You don't have kids and should not judge the motive of those who do.
932 youre right, But the real concern should be the PILOTS, and all the Low-cost financing taken advantage of, also was the "Mortgage tax" bypassed again by the JCIDA slight of hand ownership for one day?
Who would want their kids going to Watertown anyway? I'd much prefer a 5 minute bus trip to GB over the crap that's going on at Watertown. Have you seen their graduation rates lately?
What can we expect. Education officials, teachers, all those people are the most self serving scum imaginable. Everything they do is to better themselves, finance their Volvos, and extend their time in the Bahamas. Well done my educational Thugs. They should have an administrator and a NYSUT rep at the door of their bus every morning apologizing to those kids.
