For years the local media has carped about not being able to get arrest information from the police, but now the State Police have opened the flood gates and are releasing the names of every piddly ticket written...
In my youth the WDT used to print the names of traffic violators. They stopped for some reason, perhaps choosing to limit public shamings to DWI's of which there is no shortage.
The public must be humbled...not only by fines but by public humiliation...It is essential for a virtuous and orderly society.
Of course the list of tickets provides great insight into quotas.
State Police Issue Traffic Tickets in St. Lawrence County

I think they should take it one step further and print the names of the drivers of the car that was pulled over regardless if a ticket is issued. Then we could see the half of the population that doesn't need to worry about getting tickets because they have a get out of jail free card.
Just as half the population doesn't pay taxes so they keep voting for tax and spend...half the population doesn't have to worry about a ticket so they keep voting for tickets and fines.
I saw a sheriff watching for speeders twice on I81 today. Why are we spending county tax dollars patrolling 81? Can we get a G@DD&MN republican to run for sheriff? Maybe that is the guy that does the internet stings now that they don't have any jail bait he is stuck writing tickets?
Who cares about this nonsense! Maybe the daily times, drowning in apathy, thinks people will vicariously enjoy reading people's names who get a ticket..guess again,no one cares and it is stupid policy to release it and publish it..
I don't see where this serves any purpose whatsoever. These are not crimes. They are violations of vehicle and traffic laws. Should the nest step be publication of who is late on their NiMo bills?
I think this information is very helpful. I saw a number of people get tickets for going 70mph or more in a 55mph zone, but not a single person got ticketed for going any less than 70mph.
I'm going to apply this information, and only speed up to 69mph in 55 zones from now on.
It's nice to see patterns like this.
I'd appreciate it if every officer wore a microphone or a camera on their uniform, and they released the recording from every traffic stop, regardless of whether tickets were issued or not. I think it would really help us put together a formula to see what you have to say to an officer to avoid getting a ticket.
