The prospect of dorms for the local community college is something I hope comes to pass as the facility needs convenient and affordable housing to continue to grow.
Dormitories yes. I am not sold on everything proposed for the Coffeen Street Campus, but think this dormitory plan for Rand Drive is a good one and hopefully a deal can be put together with a developer to build and operate the facility.

A four-year SUNY College at Watertown would be the biggest ecomonic boom here since the papermill days ... believe me.
We nibble around the edges with this topic when in fact, we should be moving forward full bore to make it a reality.
"Partnerships" are okay, but the bulk of their income and yes, education is a big business, goes to the partners ... it does not stay here.
BTW: keep our 2-year school - 4-year schools offer 2-year degrees, too and professional certificates ... a 4-year school offers a ton more.
Another large waste of 16million tax $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
It makes sense. Students don have to pay for their housing the govmint pay for it with free money. Sure...there is a long shot that some day they have to pay SOME of it back...maybe. But Danny's boy got your back. He gonna forgive your student loans and tax the rich evil businesses to pay for it. They got to pay their fair share.
The only question is if they will have jacuzzi suits to get their money's worth out of the free birth control we gonna give to the coeds.
Anon 10:09 - do you have a reading comprehension problem or what? I didn't post anything like you weakly try to intimate... get real and stay awake in class - your grades are suffering.
BTW: I don't apologize for my post above or for thinking far ahead of you ... but nice try, jerk.
Turning JCC into a 4 year college with more advanced degrees is the only thing I see making this housing worth the cost. Dorms for a associates degree in lib. arts? Nah waste of $$$.

Danny do you have a reality comprehension problem? Never mind...that's a rhetorical question.
I never intimated that you posted anything. I just summed up some of the higher education situation in this country and invoke you as a supporter of the policies.
Fact: students pay for college using government subsidized loans.
Fact: some of the loan pays for the student's housing.
Fact: government policies forgive those loans for many situations.
Fact: Fluke is a college student and the poster girl for free no copay birth control, which is part of Obamacare.
Fact: Danny supports all of the above polices and would enhance them if it were up to him. And he wants rich people to pay for it because he thinks they don't pay their fair share.
Hey 10:51 youre right The Loans are underwritten by the Feds, Be it a GRANT, whatever its our money, In discussing the Dorms with my County Legislator the majority of them let the Head Honcho tell them what she wants and they go along with it.
